Been away for a bit but still chopping away err chance I get.
This is a trailer I built specifically for wood this winter. Has a log lift winch on back and have added a receiver mount up front for a winch since these photos. Maiden voyage last week and worked beautifully!

saves the back on the big ones for sure. If little winch can’t do it I have ramps and hook up to the 9k in the front and drag it up ramps. Too old to be slinging logs around anymore!

Nice. Will you be putting side boards on it?

Probably not. I-beams are plenty tall enough to haul rounds and I all but refuse to haul brush. Have not hauled any splits on it yet but I would think it will be sufficient for that as is too.

Very nice rig! You are going to love the winch and gantry! Will it run off the truck battery? What is the arrangement for power?

I have a mower battery for the winch lift. Have a cable from truck battery to back of truck and a connector under truck that connects to big winch on trailer.

I have been running my 3500 lb crane winch total loss off of a group 24 deep cycle/cranking battery. I can run it all day, yarding rounds up to the trailer and lifting them in. I have rarely seen the battery drawn down to 70%. If you plan to work larger than average trees your back will be thanking you big time! You did a great job on the trailer!

I run that 2500# mostly lifting but sometimes pulling them and I can get a full day out of a mower battery. Mind you , not all day but all I need to get the big ones up and loaded.
Thanks for that, the trailer was a family project and not to be boastful but I think we nailed it ! Was going for the old Chevy wooded truckbed look for the floor.

Now there's a true statement from an honest man, I'm right there with ya! That trailer looks like a very well thought out and built setup. I like the dual winch idea & setup. I love the wood floor. Excellent work!

Nice trailer! Is that rear winch rig homemade or a purchased unit? When pulling good sized rounds up, do you have to use any kind of bracing or stabilizing feet/outriggers, like if you're pulling wood from the side?

    thanks.
I bought that , called a gorillabac log lift. Thought out and well made. And an awesome company with a cool story.
There is a foot to stabilize it , you can see it in photo with wood on trailer. There is a chain on bottom to hook snatch block that is on cable to change angle you are pulling when pulling to trailer.

Ok, that's the one that will mount to a splitter... Gonna have to look into that.
