35 out and 68 in when I got the stove going again. Still burning punky SS wood. If I get 4 hours of good heat before I have to reload, I am happy. Being retired and around the house to keep the stove fed is a good thing.

    Good morning IMG_20211203_070602549.jpg
Fkws in the stove. The plan is to go to Fairbanks today. My wife has been planning it for weeks . I'de rather stay home and wait for it to warm up. Which it's supposed to do on Sunday.

With highway speeds . Even going 50 mph. The wind-chill is well below 100 below 0. The antifreeze is rated for 55 below.

Came home after a few days away to this. Got a pine fire going which is warming things up nicely.

Spruce in the OWB keeping it warm. We had a hockey tournament canceled in Healy due to this being an outside rink and -30 or colder forecasted. We skate in this temp but all the teams that have a heated inside rink said they’re not coming. Those kids are used to 50* game temp, it would be dangerous for them not knowing how to dress for play in those temps. 3B3E7200-DE38-4E39-9205-D1FA1A53396D.png 56432DA1-7DA2-428F-AE88-164C7A6D4839.png

Most of the time it's warmer in Delta than at home.

The Alaska Heat team my oldest plays for has 4 kids from Tok (where the team is out of) our goalie is from Kenny Lake, one player from Glennalen, one from Delta, one from Barrow. DCDECB35-2674-4CC5-9F65-FC53E92E0656.jpeg

My next two play for Healy, there tough kids (all the bush kids are). It’s the town kids that are soft when it comes to tough conditions.

Presently a breezy 37, with a projected low of 27. Beating a dead horse here with my fall 2021 mix of black birch and aspen, with a single red oak skinny just because I had the need and the room for it :D Looking forward to getting into more oak soon. This is my 4th week burning and I still haven’t had to shovel out my stove yet

Typical as of the last several winters Michigan weather here. 35F & cloudy. Yesterday's 50 with a good wind felt odd. Ground is mush & it's very difficult to dress for this weather. Took down a big Popple tree for a friend today & what a damm mess. Yard was soft & got torn up pretty bad, rained on us for an hour or so & the 40" tree was still full of sap/water. Terrible heavy stuff with water literally running out of the cuts. Weather weenies predicted a cold December early on & got my hopes up, I should know better by now. I'm wasting some good Ash & Elm in the boiler because I'm low on dry shoulder wood. I'm not sure I wanna do -40, but this weather is horrible. Pic of my 660 with a 36" bar against one of the rounds.
