I've tried it in the past with no success. Maybe I should have put down my can of Mt Dew? I should try again next summer.
Well the leak is from 130 feet to the road. I put in another shut off. When I cut the pipe I was expecting water to be in it. There was none, which means the pipe is leaking out downhill of the shutoff. There is a stand of trees the water line goes through, that would be a good start.
seems you have figured out a way to shorten the amount of digging you are going to have to do. Good luck. With the cold weather getting ready to set in, you haven't much time to figure it out. I know how anxious I was when my line was dumping all that water and the well pump was running non stop. I am not able to do anything physical so it was up to my son to resolve the problem. He lives here also. Looked like a heck of a mess for a while, but then it was all put back together and the land smoothed over again.
What is that 2"? Why so big, does it feed more than 1 house? Single homes often have 3/4", or the newer places 1"...you could fish 1" black poly water line right through that 2"...that is if'n ya don't really need 2"...heck, in the old days a 4" main line was what fed the whole neighborhood!
Its 2" line, it just feeds the one house. I don't know why its not 1" line or 3/4. I'm not a plumber or really know what's common or not. If I had to guess I'm guessing somebody got a deal on the pipe. Its weird they went above and beyond on the pipe diameter but laid the pipe directly onto the shale in the ground. One thing is for sure, I'm running out of time and will be back at it tomorrow.
Yeah I think I'd just push/pull a new line in then, use that 2" as a conduit...you should be able to buy a roll of 1" black poly for buck a foot or so...and it should push into that 2" pretty easy...I've seen guys push 600' of 1-1/4" black poly before...
So now that we have gotten thru black Friday, small business Saturday and cyber Monday. Now it's time to think of you favorite charities for giving Tuesday. Some places even have backers that will match anything given today to make your gift even more impactful.
TrinitySouth99 beautiful picture. I like the breakwater idea. It must really limit the waves pounding in there.
Interesting, kiddo's classes are going the Denver Museum of Nature and Science today. 4.5 hours driving minimum (round trip) and 2.5 hours at the museum. Edit, tracking her on her phone, looks like they should be there by 10 (3 hour drive down to Denver). Any wagers the bus pulls up ~5 tonight instead of 3:30?
I really need to arrange a trip down there this summer, the Zoo, Museum, and Planitarium are all in that spot. If there is ever an opening at a camp ground to bring the camper for a few days. All have them have been booked solid for a few years now because of the population explosion, people actually live at campgrounds now.
I was reading your post, and I thought Gee I really like the tracking app for my child. That I realized how happy I was my mother did not have that
, me too. I had no intentions of getting her a cell phone at such a young age, but it's so reassuring with her intown and all the different busses she takes every day!!
Working in a school with students that have cell phones is quite interesting when an emergency happens. Kids text parents, parents then have to phone school to find out what is going on and they jam up the phone lines. Sometimes parents are phoning before the office has been informed about what is going on.
Turned the main on with the shutoff engaged, the pipe filled then the meter slowed down like it has been doing. Gave it another thirty seconds and whatever was cracked is really busted now because the meter went flying. Walked up the hill and find this. I could see the water pouring out of the ground, coming to the surface. I'm am by no means done but I feel a heck of a lot better. Thank you everyone!
