It could certainly could be handy and save your back! But that is a whole lot of dollar's worth of equipment there.
True! And when I see that kind of equipment, I think about how much it must cost to fuel it, let alone maintain. From some comments here, a push through splitter handles elm best. With the experience I've had, he'd not do so well with it, at least fresh cut logs. I don't have the ability nor desire to let a log lay for 3+ years before I process it.
Yes, I thought about that too. I remember the same thing years ago when I saw these big tractors running to split wood. Takes a lot more fuel than a 5-8 hp motor.
