About 225 big trucks are waiting on the mainland to come to NFLD. And some going to the mainland trapped on the island. They're diverting ferries to the secondary port in Argentia on the east coast, normally only operational in the summer, but that port doesn't have the same traffic capacity so it's going to be slow getting the backlog cleared up. One ferry is still going to Port aux Basques, our main ferry port, to serve that area, but the rest of the island is still cut off due to the road damage. damage still doesn't seem as bad as a lot of places that have been hit with storms lately, so they can be thankful for that.
Well the car is covered in a thin layer of the white stuff this morning........ Its 30 f and I FORGOT TO LOAD THE STOVE
Not like able Pallet Pete I am under orders to leave the stove alone until at least 3 o’clock. It’s 35° here and the wife said and I quote I’m having hot flashes SO unless you want every door &!window in this house open .. let it go Kitchen is 74
Backwoods Savage ,savemoney ,bogieb Got my wife in for her test this morning and I went into the hospital to get my 'infusion' treatment. So far so good. Thanks all for your concern.
Hot flashes are no fun. As much as I disliked them, I hated the freezing cold flashes. I would be freezing to the bone and shivering with 3 layers of clothes on while standing directly in front of the wood stove (at my previous house during winter). And then BAM, a hot flash would take care of that in about 0.02 seconds. Even in the summer I wore layers and people got used to me stripping/bundling up. I found that eating any kind of carbs made the hot/cold flashes worse so I lived mainly on meat and non-root veggies for a couple of years.
I had a few visitors yesterday. People stopping to show me some of the local buck deer that got shot. Maybe the cold air got them moving more.
I should have set out a tip jar . Y'all know that I just stripped down to base layers - I'd be outside in the snow stripping down to a tank top.
Weekend off. Doing whatever I feel like doing all weekend! You hoarders enjoy your weekend and stay safe. Snow is here.
First real snow of the season. I've had what can kindly be called flurries previously, but nothing that stuck. Lempster is not too far from me Lempster (top left) is at elevation, while my part of Hillsboro (bottom right) is in the valley and only 4 blocks from the Contoocook river. I'm happy I only ended up with about 1/8" of snow. Pavement out of the wind stayed just warm enough not to let snow stick, while the part of the driveway that is in the wind, has a coating. Road was salted as we got plenty of rain yesterday before the temps dipped low enough to freeze.
