Everyone’s had a good season so far l see!
Opening gun season was Saturday here. 30 yard shot for a nice freezer filler for me right off the batt! Unfortunately destroyed both from shoulders, but she didn’t go 20’. Couldn’t believe the heavy fat layer on her, definitely not hurting for food!!

Pure swamp and brush hunting around here. 02AABB5B-64B2-40BD-BB36-FE51CFDA1E1D.jpeg
Some cast iron butter fried backstrap was good!

Sounds like fun and a nice getaway. I assume you hunt on the bordering state land? Nice bucks and bear....bear roast for Thanksgiving?

Yea most of us hunt the state land above and to the right of his 20 acres. The older guy usually hunt the stands on the property because it's an easier walk in the morning. His property goes UP as soon as you leave the cabin. The spot i hunt is 560yds up the mountain and 200' higher in elevation. I'm usually soaked by the time I get there. No bear for me this Thanksgiving but he is going to give me some next time we see each other.

huskihl.  I'd never seen deer hung from the neck until I started hunting NY about 15yrs ago. Never understood it as we've always hung em by the back legs here.

Gun opens in Ohio Monday. Gathering everything up today so I can head to camp tomorrow afternoon. I have the whole week off to get it done. All 3 kids are planning on showing up at different times throughout the week as well.

Biggest reason is for removing “parts” and processing. Dropped a hind quarter on the ground when cutting through the hip joint because the gambrel got heavy on one side and jerked down. Been hanging the other way since

Last weekend of rifle for us in Wisconsin, haven't seen a single deer...tell this morning, dropped him about 7 this am, .450 bushmaster about 120 yards, little far forward but took out both lungs and didn't even go 50 yards.
    Gonna be some good eating!

We hang them from the head for the same reason unless it's going to the taxidermist.

PA opener this morning. Cold and snowy. Sun came out around lunch and we had deer running everywhere! Nothing anyone had interest to shoot unfortunately. One last try in the morning before heading home. 199A539C-8441-4F8E-904D-CD735D562CF8.jpeg

    Very nice looking view.
This was my view for most of the season, a empty field

Only seen one deer so far and it was the one I shot.

    KIMG0205.JPG
Hope you see a shooter tomorrow!
