Alder doesn’t burn as long as some other woods. It also has a tendency to soot up the chimney if it isn’t well seasoned. It also tends to rot faster than the Fir and Hemlock around here. Our weather here is fairly mild and I have a access to a good supply of wood so I don’t mind processing the extra wood required compared to some other species. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
