Traded this 20 foot travel trailer. For this 33 footer. Took a 600 mile round trip to pick it up. It was fun, was -18 when I left for Anchorage and -12 when I got home made it in 15 hours on snow covered roads the entire way.
Congratulations on a beautiful camper man! Everything must creek & whine on the truck & trailer when it’s that cold out! How did your truck handle the extra size of the new camper?
Congratulations Tom! May that serve you and your family well for a long time. You must have had wings to make that trip so quickly!
I guess I should have put diesel in vs jet A. I did the loan in advance so I only had to drive. I made 2 fuel stops and one food stop that I combined with a fuel stop. It only took 5 minutes to hook up and do a walk around and get the paperwork. Truck was rolling almost the full 15 hours I was gone.
Thank you, the slide out is the living/dining room the truck pulls everything I own with no issues. Mom’s suburban can pull the camper but I think she will drive the GMC w/duramax and with the boat or camper and I will pull the other one.
Plenty of room for your family and gear now.. Bunk beds where the two windows are Im thinking... It looks good size.
Yes sir it’s a bunkhouse model, there are 2 set of bunk beds in the back, master in the front, living/dining room in the middle.
I didn’t drive fast enough to knock of the snow of the front-top of the camper. My average speed was 42 mph, figuring I was gone 15 hours, drove for 14 and a 600 mile trip.
Nice but way too large for my wife and I and the pup We have a slide in truck camper with a retractable roof and I pull the side by side on a trailer on the back. Most of our camping is on our owned property in north central Michigan and the only access is via unimproved road so the TC is ideal for us and in the 1 ton, you don't even know it's there. Takes 2 minutes to set up and out come the folding lawn chairs and the Coleman, start a small fire and good to go and no one else there because we own it and it's posted. Always had TC's.
I have a weight distribution hitch and anti sway bar for it. However I did not use it yesterday, I wanted to get rolling and wanted to see how it pulled without them.
For 2 my layout is not ideal, but I saw some nice ones that were. We pull the camper and boat to Valdez for our salt water adventures and again various fresh lakes for the those adventures.
