A few for today’s cutting

 

Makes me want to bust that silky out of the packaging and cut something and organize my stuff more.

 

Wow those are serious bling starter handles. I like those better than snow machine handles.

Those sugihara bars probably cost more than most of my saws.

 

Only one sugihara the other is tsumura

 

Both are nice bars.

 

I have been very pleased with both tsumura is 32 and the sugihara is a 28

 

Just a Honey Locust slab with the clamp screwed on the end at a slight angle so the power head sits in the middle of the slab. I stapled soft open cell foam on the bottom so I can put it on the tailgate of the truck without it slipping around while filing. Just about the right height for me. In the pix it's sitting on the table saw in the basement.

Yes, he cut a lot of wood with it and dropped a large round on it years ago, but overall he took good mechanical care of it. As mentioned earlier, I will go through it and freshen it all up. I just though if I was going to get a Huskie to play with I would want the "legendary firewood king" saw. I've heard lots of good about them and thought I would like to try one out.

I pretty much have been although I have had a few 450, 455, ranchers pass through my hands that I fixed up and re-sold. I just ported the neighbors 55 Rancher for him and we're going to get it out to play tomorrow with the 357 and my 362 to see where everything stacks up and what I might want to do with this new husky. I'm thinking I bought it just as much to tear it apart and play with porting it as I did for a maybe to keep as a back-up saw although if these are as good as all the hype I've read about them, it may see more serious duty.

 

I ran a tank of gas through the 357 the other day and box stock with a filthy air cleaner it cuts just a little faster than my MS362 that has a MM, advanced timing, and square filed chain. There are a few issues with it so into the shop it goes. The Wood Wolverine is right, it's a factory hot-rod that needs re-freshed and it will be a couple pounds lighter when I get all the crud cleaned out of it.



A couple issues. bad vib damper just in front of the trigger that a new screw will fix and the fuel tank vent stuff was missing like a couple other huskies I've worked on. I'm assuming a new duck bill thingy and a bronze filter will fix it.

There are a few issues, but the piston and cylinder look OK so far through the exhaust port. I'll check the compression before tearing it down further. I should have done that already but I get excited when I start tearing stuff apart. I took it to the basement this evening just to sharpen the chain and got a little sidetracked...

I've been waiting to put the snow shield on . I figure now that we've gone below 30 under it was time. Not a good pic. But sure is pretty. IMHO at least..


I did a little filing on the bottom side of both bottom dogs. I like Sharp dogs. Hate it when a saw wants to slide down a Stump when putting in a face cut.

Anti Theft in action I guess.
I’ve got three in college and they are all home, plus one that wasn’t going back to Tennessee for the holiday. We were all busy cutting and chopping yesterday, potatoes/ squashe/ rutabaga, when I went out the garage fridge…
And there was this guy sitting on the floor.
No note, no nothing.
A garage door was open, so it wasn’t a break in.
