    another man's treasure.

Been looking at this bench sitting on the side of my neighbors garage
all summer. Figured she would fix it. ...but, what to my surprise I'm coming
home from a bike ride and there is the bench sitting across the street. There
is an vacant lot across the street from her and she uses it for her personal
dump. So, in the dark of the night, I crept down and retrieved it.
This is my second bench rebuild. It now has a home on the patio.

Like the bench..You did a nice job repairing it.. Maybe your neighbor may want it back when she sees it.. What kind of wood did you use?

    Bench is redwood. 2-2x4-8'.

Top frame joints are 1/4"x2" dowels glued
w/plastic resin. Wood finished w/Thompson's water seal.

That looks great. My mother has a bench similar to that. I need to get busy and refinish it as well. It has been sitting outside for many years being neglected.

    Nice recovery.

I have the two ends from a similar bench. No fancy back, just slats. I keep hoping I find someone to hand them off to.

That looks really nice. I rebuilt a similar bench for my mom that my dad had bought. I repainted the metal black, and used mahogany with clear finish for the wood.
