Got a few more hours on a 362 this afternoon cutting oak. 6 or 7 bucket loads of green red oak . Didn't measure them but the last load could only get two rounds in the 53 inch wide bucket. 3 wouldn't fit. Wider than my 16" bar. I didn't even try picking up the last dozen. Just the trunk of the tree that was across a dirt road in the woods. I needed to get by it. There's still the top and about 6 feet of trunk standing. Plus another oak it took down when it came down. What's standing is fairly hollow from carpenter ants. There's three oaks all tangled up together, so a fun project. 2.5 bucket loads of white oak from a large limb/branch that fell from a dead standing tree. Quite light so probably good to burn.
Hoping the rain is done. Yesterday the radar showed we should not get much or even nothing. Mother Nature had other ideas and before noon it started and didn't stop until into the night.
Well today has been an exercise in frustration. I found some replacement wheels for my 1 1/2 ton truck firewood getter but nobody will touch them because of the dreaded “widow makers” on the truck. I’m frustrated because they (tire guys) looked at the front tires which aren’t even widow makers but split rims but this generation of tire changers don’t know the difference and start quoting insurance and etc. Didn’t even see the actual bad rims on the inside duals. I only need the wheels removed and install the replacements. Like changing a spare. They don’t need to break down the wheels. That’s the dangerous part and if they’re in a cage when aired up and precautions taken, it’s no worse than any other tire. But noooo…..The world will come to an end and the universe will crack in two if anybody dares touch those death trap wheels as I listen to some 19 year old kid with his britches hanging down to his knees throwing his hands up and crying oh my god! I know what’s going to happen. I’ll end up going and getting the big tools to do it myself and bitch about it every step of the way. <laughing> I messed around and got old. “GET OFF MY LAWN!” Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Yooper, you have made my day! this is getting printed out and took with me on my quest! Thanks for the laugh!!! Lenny
I can't take credit for it....someone else had posted it not too long ago; that's why this tired old brain thought of it! Glad you got a smile from it!
Wondering how much snow fell yesterday near the Lakes. Radar made it look like many areas got a lot. But I don't think any ski areas in MI will be open for Thanksgiving this year.
Strange here this year, the warmest Nov I've seen (weirdly warm!) since moving her permanently in 2013. It's been nicer than most Aprils and Sept's here! Feels like Colorado except for the wind.
Y'all don't let her light the candles, do ya?! Knowing her fire building skills, I'd be real nervous to let her do it in the house!
