I’ve had the best luck with the cheap nitrile covered gloves. I used to go through leather gloves in a few weeks. The wood just wore a hole in the thumb. It got expensive so I tried these. They’ll last months instead of days [IMG]

I got a pair made by Duluth Trading and have to say, they’ve lasted longer than any other pair I’ve had. Very comfortable and highly dexterous.

Yeah it's been covered several times before here, but these are very good. A 12 pack lasts a while. A pair lasts several cords.

Cheap leather gloves. A serious day of split handling and they may have holes.

The Uline grippy palm. Orange with black palms. I order them at work, one pack for them, one pack for me. A pair lasts about 2 cords. Left hand always wears out on the fingertips first.

One hint for those who wear out a lot of gloves. Handling wood is terribly hard on gloves but if you get one or 2 of these your gloves will last a lot longer. In addition, your hands won't get as cold in winter.

One thing i have found though is that I always advised getting only the large tongs but recently I got one of the small ones. Those work very good for handling splits. The only thing I don't like is that the handle is shorter so some bending is often required which my back does not like.

Menards used to put leather palm work gloves on sale for a buck. I would pick them up and still have a bag full of gloves around somewhere. (drives 99 nuts)

But, the quality did match the price. A pair of them would last only so long.

But.....I felt much better having to throw away a pair of 99 cent gloves each year instead of a $15 pair. Like Backwoods Savage said, the wood is brutal on gloves!

Unfortunately, menards has not offered that price on work gloves for probably three-ish years now.

I use Kinco model 1600 double palm leather gloves. I've found that they hold up longer than any other leather gloves I've tried.

Just ordered me some. I don’t use them with wood work but they are great for everything else.
