Well that explains why I remember mine being black! (I have an early MS261C-M) Is there a difference other than the color?
I think the stihl tech told me the black is better filtration. It’s been a while since I ordered black after getting white.
Congrats on the new saw! Let us know your thoughts. I may be interested in your 362 if you decide to sell.
Oh yeah! Awesome baby! Christmas is coming and i havent bought a saw since the Spring! The last time i asked Santa for one he got it stuck in the chimney!
Fair. Pro saws are very scarce right now and they have a long waiting list for any that come in stock so no deals to be had.
I appreciate the write up. I was going to get the 400 anyway, but always good to read a current appraisal of something before you buy it (and from a forum member).
It's pouring out but I don't care...the new saw is in the stable. For whatever reason, my dealer has never been big on setting up saws with light guide bars so I'll probably grab one later on at some point.
When I bought my 500, I wish I had gotten both bars in the Light flavor. I got an ES 20" and a Light 28". That 20" ES is a very heavy bar. I think it's 2lbs 13oz. I think dealers don't set them up that way from the get go is the light bars are about 30% more $...
balance is very nice with a 20” sugi… I’ve had very good luck with the Sugihara and Tsumura light weight bars over the years.
If never seen a light bar set up at a dealer. I’d guess it’s a Stihl thing. My dealer told me They can only sell the saw how it came set up from Stihl. I was lucky enough when I got my 261. to get the dealer to swap out the green safety chain for me at no cost, I’m guessing they can’t sell bars or chains they take off of new saws.
My 462 came with a 24” light bar. I figure dealers get pho and put in stock bars on them. Like most things right now, light bars are probably in short supply.
