I wholesale bundles to two stores he manages. I imagin he has taken some of those home to burn. I try to use cleaner wood in the bundles and will brush schmutz off when assembling. It all depends where im pulling the splits from as it can be one of several locations. There's an area here at our house where it is neatly tucked under the loft of the apt next door on a concrete slab. I get 1.75 cords stacked there. The last of the wood from there is being used shortly and im refilling with partly seasoned SS wood. Hoping for it to be ready by March.

I am and have been thinking about what to get for a half cord, custom made and stacked. Thinking $200 Normally half is $140 delivered and $20 extra for stacking if i can back right up to the log rack/pallets etc. He buys $100 at a time so i give him a face cord stacked.

Sounds like you need some nice big ash rounds and split the outer layers off.

Just did that last week with a PU full of ash from March. The heartwood for bundles. Outer for general cordage.

Easy to split the outer layer off nice and thin with a hydro. I’m sure you can do it with an axe. Me, I’d lose toes with my aim :)

He's not wanting to bundle the clean wood he's asking for, does he?

Refilling his bundles to sell by getting it bulk from you, making a higher margin.

Are you saying he takes my loose and makes up bundles himself? If he did im not aware of it. I know the wood ive sold him at the store as i rotate stock when i deliver.

Id sell him bundle quality in volume but loose then id run out of bundle wood and its a challenge to keep it in rotation on hand. I assemble bundles when an order comes in seldom keeping bundles on hand.

Still have to meet with him to find out if he's on board with the plan. Last year he didnt buy any loose wood from me. His station goes through the most bundles and now you have me wondering if he is bringing some home to burn??? He needs another 30 which ill deliver tomorrow.

Yes, exactly. He could be making bundles from the loose wood to save $'s.

He probably isn't. Just a thought.

He works too many hours to do that and doesnt do anything to make firewood. He gets frustrated with his family as they burn through the kindling bundles i sell him too fast!
Doesnt frustrate me any though! ;)

In my experience putting unseasoned wood indoors is a bad idea. Can cause moisture and mildew/mold problems.

I split a half cord of silver maple that had just been cut down in early September, and stacked it all in my garage right away. It is well under 20% and burning great already. The humidity is pretty low here in the fall.

Just my experience so take it or leave it. Cut a juicy American Elm and and a storm blow down spruce and split it in big splits as I had time for it to dry and was experimenting with stacking it in a closed large machine shed on a south wall. It cooks in the summer but is closed up so limited air movement. Spruce at 1 year was good to go no problem. The elm at 3 years is just getting ready, but has spots of growth that I feel if it had been outside in sun and wind would have not developed the furry spots. It isn't terrible but still it is there.

I’d hate to be that buy but… he needs a pellet stove. My parents after a decade of wood stove and basement wood boiler usage won’t even think about going back to cordwood. I have a 50 acre wood lot 1/2 a mile from their house. Some people like a clean house my mom is one of them.

(The American side) looked right at me “put your shoes back on! I have a vacuum cleaner! We play outside and inside.”

I think they like the ambiance. He is cheap so i doubt he would go that route.

Sorry to burst your bubble of dreams. I am a Canadian wife and my housekeeping isn't that great. You keep your shoes on in this house. campinspecter does the vacuuming and he doesn't mind shoes being left on.
