My property manager connection had more trees taken down so I picked up a load this morning. It was mostly bucked to length but I cut a few. I noodled some that I need to go back for as well. Should end up close to 2 face cords. Sent from my moto z3 using Tapatalk
Last load for the season from over in the drying field. We hit it hard Friday. My neighbor came over in the morning and helped with 2 large loads and my nephew helped with 2 large loads in the afternoon. No pix from that but this is the last truckload on Saturday afternoon. All 6 cord moved with the woodshed by the house packed full (5 cord in there) and both of the 1/2 cord racks in the basement loaded also. The last little bit in the truck went in the basement to top off the rack that I had been loading the stove from all week. Glad to have that all done. Now I can get back to splitting the rounds for the 23-24 season and bucking all the logs in the field that are slated for the 24-25 and beyond seasons. We just finished culling for the year and still have some of that to skid out to be processed as well. A few of those logs will go to making Swedish Candles also. I'm thinking I'll harvest a few Red Pine poles to make into candles as well.
Nice scrounge of silver maple. Not bad for just over an hour's worth of work (most of it spent dragging the wood to the truck).
So nice to be somewhat ahead of the game so I can be more selective in my scrounging. Love those toothpick-straight trees!
Went back out and scored a load of white birch (and a couple pieces of silver maple from the crown of the earlier scrounge). The ends may look punky however that is just dirt/debris from being dragged out of the woods. There was zero punk in the tree.
Yes to all except the year! 1992 Hoping to get many years out of it, and I should Body and frame literally have no rust. Dump bed has some surface rust in a few spots.
Jason, will you noodle the uglies or use hydro? Im more inclined to noodle as im not a big fan of uglies
All those uglies in the back of the trailer are on my burn pile. Most of it was rotty. All of the log was pretty straight grained so I don’t foresee anything that won’t split fine. That monster oak I noodled a lot of chunks to split size. The grain was going every which way but straight on a few sections.
