Welcome to FHC. You'll like it here. We like beer, dogs and pics. Lots of pics. Have alot of knowledgeable people who are willing to share.
Thank you!! I have already noticed that! Tons of great info and people passionate about all sorts of things. Also, noticed a lot less snarkiness and negativity than your average forum. That is VERY refreshing!!!
Looks like you had a great day. Nothing beats a a day of wood harvesting with a good friend. Look like we have the same splitter, I have the 35ton model. How do you like it? Mine is currently in the shop getting a new control unit installed (under warranty by yard max). I noticed your’s does not have the spinning plate installed… is that on purpose? I have been considering removing it on mine. I feel it takes away some of the control on the placement of the splits.
GTG = get together. As in when FHC members descend on one person's property for all kinds of wood cutting and shenanigans (or so I am told). Example of a GTG: Central Ohio GTG (hey Eric, post in the “Live” thread!) | Firewood Hoarders Club
I love it!! Heavier and not nearly as pretty as an EA but considerably cheaper. I am about 2 hours from their production center. So I was able to drive down there and get it along with a stump bucket and save myself even more money. Even with the added weight it has never hampered my lift capabilities. Still have yet hit my relief valve on the Branson. GOSH a grapple is SOOOOO sweet though!!
Mine is the 28 ton, haven't found anything yet it wouldn't split or sheer. Yes I did remove the swivel plate, just couldn't get used to it.
Another day, another load of wood. I've got only 2 more 12 foot racks to fill and then I've got 17.5 cords CSS and on a 4 ish year plan. In the woods.... It was a good day to be out there on Saturday. Not to many of these days left. In the driveway
I'm running behind schedule this year. I filled one wood rack in the basement a week ago and started a fire in the stove for the first time this year. I also finally got started with moving wood from the 21-22 stack in the drying field to the woodshed by the house. It will take me about 5 or 6 more loads like this to finish up. Mix of hardwoods, Honey Locust, Sugar Maple, Hawthorne, Cherry, Pin Oak. Almost a cord, not quite.
Put another load on this evening and will unload it in the morning. This one is probably real close to a cord. Same mix as before and probably around 3,500 lbs. I probably shouldn't load it like that, but once you get to chuckin' wood, it's hard to stop...
Rear view. Normally I don't buy cut up firewood. But this was a good deal. And , I don't have any time to go get wood. This has been stacked in a wood shed for about 6 years. A mix of Aspen , white spruce and black spruce.
