The daughter of a friend of mine, had a red oak and red maple taken down. He and I headed over this morning to break it down The final tally. Guessing about 1/2 cord We cut and stacked most of the red maple on site, for their fire pit. I'm beat. Shower, beer, and football.
I agree on the size, very manageable. I find the days physically tiring but emotionally uplifting when doing firewood especially with a good friend(s).
My same friend has a neighbor that's having a cherry and maple taken down. The tree service loaded his PU and he brought it here. The shadows make it difficult, but there's logs laying to the left side of the stacked oak. There may be more to come!
I did get the maple. The logs stacked to the left side, are about as long as the uprights. Not sure what kind. I'm leaning towards red maple.
Hmmm.... ya think? That'd be nice. I'll have to see if there are any non-maple looking leaves in the harvest area.
The leaves in this picture (upper left corner) are what had me leaning hickory. Some bark pictures almost remind me of elm, but not the brown heart wood.
