Going on 7th season with my stove. I realized I've never changed my glass gasket. I've been noticing my glass getting dirtier in my first few fires. How often have you changed yours? Fyi I'm burning cherry that's been cut split stacked for 3 years in my wood shed.
Should the glass on the door become not tight, I'll check the gasket. I'll check other gaskets when the stove is open for cleaning. Sometimes, gaskets have come loose. A bit of gasket cement and it's good.
My glass gasket failed a couple years ago. Started getting a little flame right at the edge where the air was getting in. Even started burning through wood faster and getting high (out of control) STT. WS seemed surprised i was ordering that gasket.
We have had our stove 17 years. I have only replaced the glass gasket once about 3 years ago when I broke the glass. It seemed to burn a little cleaner after that but not enough that I would change it again without having to replace the glass.
This will be our 15th year with this stove and we changed that gasket before starting to burn this fall. So we changed twice over a 14 year period or once every 7 years.
