37F overnight last night. Heading for mid 50's today. I reloaded last night at 8pm on hot coals. This is my first season running a bunch of 16% red Oak. So far I am impressed. My reload last night started easily. @24hrs. That beats my last longest burn of 21hrs if I recall. Gotta love shoulder season burning games.
48°F, wind off the ocean only 70 miles away. Lots of wind coming later today and tomorrow and cold rain with it. Staying warm with White Birch and Red Maple keeping the damp air at bay. Sent from my SM-A526U1 using Tapatalk
Not cold enough in Virginia for the wood furnace yet. Decided to light the fireplace for the first time this season. Burning a mix of poplar, spruce and oak. Feels good to be burning again!
43° out, balsam fir in the quadrafire for an evening fire. My last belt broke for the clutch to the mower pto, so I couldn't finish the lawn. At this rate, I won't be able to finish it tomorrow either because getting the belt ( or 2) and putting the belt(s) on, will take up tomorrow. Thursday it's going to rain, so hopefully Friday I can finish it? I need to get my boat winterized before the weekend as well. Next week looks to be cold. Like all day burning cold.
Low 50’s today. Still 68 in the house when I got home with no fire. Started fire with some cotton wood shorts and uglies. Going to get to hot in the house real fast! It’s Been nice night burning for the last couple weeks. Forecast looks like we could be all day burning next week! I’m not ready for that yet!
All this rain is getting really old. I only have about half of this winters wood covered and Im starting to get concerned.
5 degrees C (low 50's F). Beginning of shoulder season here. Burning spruce, basswood, and a little bit of sugar maple just so I have some coals. Going to Florida next week for 8 days, that should be a nice temp change.
23 °F firekilled white spruce in the stove. 71 inside. Got about 3/4" of snow at the house today. Maybe. Maybe only 1/2 " Bucked up the remaining fkws from this first load. So with the shorts and stuff we started with in early September. That puts us at just a bit over 1 cord burned when this is gone in a week or so. As this is currently our sole source of heat. And the snow has been here since September 20th. I'm fairly happy. Once the Arctic Entry is built we will have better fuel wood economy Is that really a Thing Once it gets cold. It will probably save us an arm load a day. That's a pretty good savings.
Temp got to 35 early last night then began rising. I don't see any big cool down in sight yet but it is bound to happen before too long.
Looking at some lows in the 30’s next week. Might have 2 stoves going. Can’t let little momma be cold. 2 fires before Thanksgiving would be rare. NC ski slopes open by thanksgiving is rarer.
Are you able to find any dead birch that hasnt gone to punk or do you harvest green and season? Here's some green birch that I c,s,s a few weeks ago. It wont be ready until at least 2 summers have past. 1c/34f and doug fir in the box.
Mid 60s going to mid -low 40s. Same for tomorrow. Friday looking like a rainy cool autumn day. Have fire ready to start when I come in tonight. Box elder, some punky black cherry for the night
