Not familiar with secondary market prices. Though one is new. Huskie 572xp power head new $970.00 2 ms290s, one was rebuilt $450.00 for both Thoughts?
FWIW, DD farm supply in Arcadia, Wi, has an ebay store, bagniewski2006 , that lists the 572XP PHO for $959 + $20 shipping , their listings always claim as a Demo, may have been fueled or started, but all Five of the saws that I have bought from them 395XP (x2), 390XP, 550XP and 543XP, have all come in original boxes, with both Fuel and Bar Oil tanks DRY, I would buy from them again without hesitation, what is the story or the seller of the saws you are looking at? Doug
I should have also mentioned that they also accept offers, I made offers on IIRC, 3 of my saws that they accepted. The second 395XP, I offered $100 less than listed price, and they accepted it, that was my Fifth saw from them, and the supply chain wasn’t stretched so tight back then, but offer $900 and see if they accept it or counter offer, even with the shipping, you could save $50 My thoughts, Your Money and Choices Doug
Not to sound like a jerk here, but you do know that an MS 290 is not even in the same galaxy as a 572XP right? I'd spend on a good pro grade saw well before I'd pizz away $450.00 on two 290's. Unless you just want more saws.
If you know how to work on saws then the two MS 290's for about 400.00 might not be a bad way to go. But I do think I would not go 450.00 The other thing do you know what is wrong with the other MS 290 that does not run. It could be a junk saw that is worth nothing more than parts.
Oh yeah I know. The 290s I was thinking about my nephews. Maybe for my oldest son, but he's not ready yet 572 would be for me
Stihls are on the lower side from what ive seen. Dont know Husky. Depends on condition of course. I sold my circa 2010 MS290 for $200 a couple years ago. It went rather quick. I was original owner and it cut a lot of wood. Save the $450 for a better saw. Not knocking a 290. Good reliable firewood saw for an average cutter. One of two saws i owned for many years and it cut 95% of my wood.
No. I've been trying to just keep an eye out for a good deal. Mainly for my nephews who are just starting out in life. Though come to think about it. My one nephew earns more then me and lives in a less expensive state. He should be looking out for me.
Hmm...I wonder if that wasn't the fellah I was dealing with when I got in on the Farmertec 660 clone saw "group buy" a few years back there...seemed to be a mucky muck at HL...good dude
