I found this in the trash on Jan-6-2020.

Stripped all the paint with a combo of a wire wheel, wd-40, brush, vinegar soak and then put it aside for a while.

Cleaned it up the other day again with some vinegar soaking, some denatured alcohol, and then primed it and painted it today with U-pol 2-part truck bed liner leftover from spraying my new side steps on my truck.

I also ditched the original plastic wheels which were broken and opted for some nice 12" HarborFreight wheels and tires with tubes.

Had to get some 1/2"=> 5/8" sleeves as the old axle is too small for the new wheels.

I also bought a hardware kit from them. Perfect replacement.

I'd say it came out pretty f-ing awesome.

I'm giving it to my neighbor who is expecting his second son in November.

    Part 1 of the pics.

That looks great. The kid is going to love using that. With those wheels, he will be able to haul firewood in it.

I love restore threads. I was watching a video last night on someone who restored an old two step stool. It looked better than new when he was finished.

Thanks. There's typically a lot of life left in things people throw away. Sometimes it takes a little elbow grease, a little wire wheeling, a little paint....but with a bit of patience and some really basic tools, it can be done!

I keep thinking about how much fun I would have had in one of those as a kid.

I pulled it over to my neighbor today and delivered it. It was pretty awesome seeing his reaction and I hope his 2 sons enjoy it for a long, long time.

Is that a powder coat paint job? Looks really sweet and the wheels are the cherry on top.

Thanks! Rust-o-leum rusty metal primer then U-pol two part truck bed liner from Amazon (included the spray gun). I used the same stuff on my side steps of my truck and not one piece of rust or chippage on them thus far.
