Stack and get it off the ground.

Alot of folks don't like to stack. If you don't like to stack, your "pile to stack" will cause you to dislike stacking even more.

Stack it and get a tarp on it. It will begin drying while you you get a sense of accomplishment looking at your neat stacks!

I'd keep splitting, stacking can be done an hour here & there in between rain, snow, soccer games etc. Splitting takes a bit more planning in my world.

It does not take that long to stack 2 face cords. I say stack the split. Why do one when you can do both?

To me, stacking is something that weighs on me… I feel the pressure to get that wood off the ground. Which reminds de me, I have a bunch of splits that need to be stacked…

My choice is always to split more. Every single time we leave the house, once I'm ready, (long before the 3 girls are), I stack until they come out. Once I have a mountain of splits, I stack for "a little bit" once I come home, before I go inside.

Stack. Get it off the ground and covered before the rain and eventual snow.

    I would split ; why ??
Because I hate stacking , not to mention I am not very good at it !

To be honest with you I need to do both , I still have a pile I have had for a while that really needs to get cut and split so I can get the splitter out of my garage and back to storage in order to free up some garage space for winter.
That is one thing I don't like about the larger splitter , it takes up space in the garage and I won't leave it outside.

    All I need is time.

Weather you decide to split or stack take advantage of the weather and enjoy.

    Yes sir I do !

One of these days I am going to something for the sawmill , If all goes well there will be some extra room for the splitter as well.
I was going to start this year but it's out of the question until spring .

This is a maple score I got two weeks ago… it’s killing me that I haven’t done something with it yet. I need to get more organized!

I'm in the group that says split. If I have a decent block of time that can be spent in the wood lot, then I prefer to split than stack (especially because I lost a few months and am way behind so I have a lot of rounds and logs that have been getting soaked over the year and want to at least get them opened up). Stacking can be done any time when you have the opportunity, but not necessarily the amount of time to dedicate to splitting. Stacking goes quick (to me) when it's done a little here, a little there.

    I would split.
If I were younger. At least the splits are drying a little faster in a heap than in rounds. And a tarp can always be thrown over a heap in bad weather. Bad weather being snow/ice. A little rain shouldn't impact a heap of wood all that much really. Picking splits off the frozen ground/each other can be a PITA.
These days I tend to do a little of this and then a little of that because my back gets sore doing the same thing over and over again for too long.
Probably better for your body to mix things up even when younger.

i kinda split and stack at the same time. I have the the room to get away with it. I would rather have a stack than a pile. years ago I was splitting up a storm and just tossing the splits off behind, well I had a tough one and when it go, explosively, 1/2 of it caught me, got tangle footed in the splits and went down hard. dislocating shoulder and several new orifices were opened on me.
