From what I have seen, sometimes they are going to do what they want no matter how many times you ask them and how nice you are about it. Not saying dont try.

 

I hear that and understand. Life is not simple and easy as we wish it was.

 

I’m working myself up to doing it. Dug out the soot eater today.

 

Some older lady here in Maine just burned her self up with ox and smoking.

 

Happens a lot more that folks realize. Tobacco, as with any other addiction, is a curse on society that EVERYBODY gets to foot the bill for.

 

Done, defiantly not my favorite job.

 

I want to add that I don't know of any hospital that will allow smoking anywhere on hospital property. Not even if you are in your own car in the parking lot. Don't ask me how they enforce that, but it is the rules. The VA used to have a smoking area but now that is gone. They were several year bringing in these rules but now it is in place and there doesn't seem to be the negative outburst as there was in the beginning.

 

Went to the veteran's cemetery today for our sister in-law burial. It didn't take long. Good reminder to make the most of things while you can.

 

Sorry about sister in law.. You are very right to make most of things.

 

He is at home. My uncle broke down and got him a pack, but last night I realized I no longer heard the machine. I guess they gave up and stopped wasting the power.

yes, and honestly....he hasn't got long anyway, so which is better? Give him whatever limited time he will have happy, or prolong it with him, and the family, suffering?

Not one bit, I fully agree. It'd be different if it was a temporary thing with a fighting chance of recovering.

It's hard on the family too, he only has 3 hours a day home care, otherwise it's mostly my uncle and his wife trying to be there and look after him, but they have to work as well. Seems like grandfather is most comfortable with that uncle being there. Dads other brother has been staying a few nights as well to give them a break. Dad is not realistically able to put in much time due to distance and other factors but is planning to stay with him this weekend.

It's mentally draining, because it's not like he actually needs constant care, he always did spend a lot of time alone in his room and that's not changing. He can go to the bathroom, shave, among other basic tasks, it's just being there in case he does need anything and in case something should happen, but mostly just sitting around the house with little better to do than watch TV or surf the Internet and the like.

I've been reluctant to leave when I've been there, even with someone else there it doesnt feel right, but he wouldn't be comfortable with me there alone with him (honestly, justifiably so), and I'm not really spending any quality time with him, we've never really had a relationship. So I've resigned myself to the fact that there's really very little I can do for him.

What a day. Got the dock raised. What a project. Gonna have to have someone come over and take a look at improving that system.

Cleaned the storage shed and splitter, then put it in place for winter. Cut up some lumber scraps for kindling (2X12s from lean to project). Cleaned garage and parked vehicles inside. Cut the grass...maybe one more time yet, we'll see. Changed a water filter on the kitchen sink; the canister sure needed cleaning.

99 pulled the sweet peas and cukes from the garden. Beans and corn left. Not expecting any corn, thats for sure but beans are on the way. Then, have to till it once more before winter.

We woke up to a forecast of snow on Fri and Sat so it was time to get moving!
