Had to be at the dentist at 8 this morning, ended up getting a root canal. I have to give our dentist a real pat on the back. After the shot, and a slight, pop, when he gave me the first shot, i never felt a thing, seriously, probably one of the best visits to the dentist i've ever had. I was in the chair for 2 hrs, and honestly didn't feel a thing. Came home took a 2 hr nap, woke up with some numbness in my right lower jaw. It stayed that way for about 4 hrs, then when it wore off still NO PAIN! Its 8:36 here PST and still no pain. I woke up at 12:30 this morning thinking about this procedure, stayed up till around 4 am. I don't foresee any pain tonight, my jaw feels great, and i'll go easy on it for a day or so, then begin eating as i normally would.

Awesome. Usually your jaw feels quite bruised after that session.

    Wow.

My first root canal took 6 injections and I could still feel it! Not as bad I'm sure, but when I was getting worked on, my legs were off the chair!

And in pain for days afterwards.

You sir, are very lucky! :handshake:

Maybe it was only a filling and he's charging you as a root canal.....???

Oh no, it was the ''real deal'' lol Its not that i have a high pain tolerance but, he just did a good job. 2hrs in the chair, i'm SURE he did a root canal, and even today 2 days later, its good to go. In all fairness he shot me up pretty good. I had 2 done the same day 25 yrs ago, and trust me, This one was by far almost a pleasure to have it done. When i came home after those 2 done the same day, oh, boy, that was NOT a good day, plus the dentist and the chair girl had just started that very day. As the dentist was working on me that time, they were talking about the apartments they had both rented.

I've had several root canals over the years and honestly they weren't much worse than having a cavity filled...actually the worst experience I've personally had at the dentist (pain wise) was a few years back, he was trying to fill a cavity and that area just wouldn't numb up...he finally said the he had given me as much novacaine as he legally could...he finally got it done, but not before I left permanent hand prints in the arms of his chair!
Mom hates the "numb face" after having dental work done...she will often times go with no numbing when having simple procedures done (like maybe a "shallow" cavity) she's way tougher than me apparently! :faint:

Congratulations B.Brown I have had several root canals. I am also one of the lucky ones.. nova Caine does not work well on me.. Most people have 2 roots per tooth.. My last root canal had 5. Doc calls it double nerves.. I dislike dentist, BUT married my hygienist

Yup, that re-direction trick doesn't work with me, no sir!

I ended up having 4 root canals in my life but the first one was by far and large the very worst one!!!

I've only had one root canal and the dentist sent me home with a new appt. and some valium to take before the next attempt. I didn't take note of time but it took forever. He kept saying my roots were super long and it might be easier to get to the ends thru my ear.
