I bought the ms391 and told a boy at work about it and he ask me how much warranty did I get with the saw and I told him not sure I just wanted it out the door daaa on me. He tells me when he bought his 290 farm boss the dealer he went to give him extra warranty for buying and using synthic oil and and I called my dealer about it and I guess were I buy lots of stuff he said he thought I knew about it but since I did not buy the oil the same day as the saw there was no redoing my warranty. Well to end this story When I traded for the ms362cm I ask if I could buy the synthic oil and get the 2year warenty and he said yea. I have used syntheic oil for several years now and did not know that. Did yal ??:headbang:

Yep Stihl and Husqvarna both do this. But you need to buy it at the time of purchase. :)

Once that 362 is modified? The warranty is gone though. So use discretion.

My dealer discounted the oil when I bought my 362. Ended up costing the same as the cheapo 1-shots and I got the warranty.

Even if you have been a frequent customer, they should have offered you the option. It is standard practice. Just like even when you read the literature on "yellow" chain, you will see a disclaimer that Stihl recommends you use "green" chain.

Yea I buy 6 1 gallon mix bottles at a time and don't buy any until I get down to a couple bottles. The saws will have the hail run out of them before Randy gets them due to wood cutting time in 2 months wide open until march.

It's not even a question at my dealer. The six pack or the 3 cans of MotoMix go on the counter with the new saw automatically. Heck, they usually give you the oil if you don't beat them up on price. The oil and the saw must be on the same invoice to double the warranty and the warranty must be registered as non-commercial to get the extension.

When you have a mutual agreement with the dealer on the saw and/or other OPE? They won't even make you buy it. ;)

I didn't buy (nor receive) any oil on my last 2 purchases. Yet the warranty was still given. Although for the saw? It was a Moot point. The KM 130 R? I was happy to get the warranty for free :) They know I run good oil (and more than the manufacturer recommendation) and take care of my equipment.

My dealer kinda stuck it to me. I didn't realize he registered it commercial. I'm a grass guy, not a tree service. Thought I had two years with the oil etc. at time of purchase. Not so much. He's still my Toro dealer, but I'm done buying saws from him.

My point of posting this was so you'd ask your dealer at time of purchase about the policy and warranty you will have. This makes two (of the biggest) local Stihl dealers I won't buy new saws from. Actually just bought my first "new" Husqvarna.

Well, I just posted a thread here asking opinions and such. Looks like I'll be taking possession of a new 545, and a 346xp ne that has "not been in wood". Guess he fueled it and pizz revved it. He decided on a 550xp for the autotune. Anyway, now I have a couple pups. One stays (and will be ported) one will have to go. Yeah... I've snapped.

The parent company electrolux owns hisqvarna and poulan. The XP series husky saws are still REAL saws the home depot comes are lesser quality...better than poulan but not as good as the pro or rancher saws
