Hey guys, started cutting on the Edit.. darn "autocorrect".. logpile today, when the saw started to get very hot on the left hand. Called it quits to investigate, as the Poulan trigger is sticking.
    :picard:

So this is what I'm looking at on the left side of the muffler. Not sure what happened to the piece that is meant to cover that hole, or redirect the exhaust. But it's not there, and I can't find it.

I assume it's easier to replace the muffler itself. Anyone know what part number I might need?

    Stihl 034AV.

    Thanks 20211010_141109.jpg

    The damage..

Red97 used to stamp exhaust hoods out in different sizes. Very reasonable.
Just need to do some final minor form fitting, clipping and couple holes for some screws.
Good opportunity to open up the exhaust port some while it’s like that.

There’s a few options for 1125 mufflers. I’d replace the deflector as mentioned above. Check that the stamped steel options will cover the existing holes.

Some 034-036 muffler conversions require a spacer and an extra 1125 gasket.

That's a bit above my pay grade at the moment.. perhaps once I have another quality runner then I can tinker.

Still have a blank check for a MS261, but I kinda blew the budget this year with the building.

If a guy wanted to take advantage of the day, I'd bet you could cobble a deflector out of a beer can for donor material...or a soup can if you wanted a little longer lasting model :dex:

It's spitting rain off and on now.

    But that's a gooder idea

Got the Poulan running as well. Some corrosion on the throttle pin was hanging things up. Tore it apart and cleaned things up with the dremel.

Needs a new plug and air filter as well.

I’d keep your original muffler. Shoot me a PM if you want and I will braze a deflector on yours for you and send it back

The ones I have here (034/036/360) do not have that deflector.

Feel free to peel off and send me the Chinese kitty sticker. I’ll affix it properly on amateur cutter ’s 036

    Thanks huskihl much appreciated.

I tried to fab up something from some leftover siding/roof steel.. couldn't make anything that would fit.
    :picard:

Unsure, I'm not the original owner.
This may be a muff mod from the previous owner.

Looks like it was attached with self tappers, the top hole is opened up compared to the other hole.

Bottom one probably came out, and vibration worked the other one loose as well.

Lol. I loved getting those stickers in orders. During the height of the pandemic, they were sending multiple stickers and business cards for PPE… “together we can stop COVID-19,” they read. Maybe a sort of “my bad” from across the Pacific?

Those ones are the easy to access part of the obsession. Others are out on loan or buried behind 1122s.
I keep thinking I’m done with 1125s but get the itch to build ‘em every year.
