....things down. Same rack from other side I was away for a few days and came back to that. I usually am able to correct any leanings, but need to catch them before gravity wins out. All fixed
That sucks. Happened once to me before I put snow retention things on my garage roof. A large snow slide pushed it right over.
That is the reason I don’t stack much these days but I feel bad for you I know how much work goes into that
Been there done that, more than I like. When I start seeing a lean I push it back the best I can, usually that works. Sometimes it just shrinks so much it needs restacked. Plus the dang moles making the ground unstable. Pallets compensate for that usually.
If a log rack falls in Mike's yard and nobody is there to hear it does it make a noise? Ive had it happen before. If you have racks the same size parallel attach a strip of wood 1x3, 2x4 etc. on the end to them all. Locks them together. Lessens leaning and toppling. My half cord stack of mulberry has a good lean and i pushed it back. Checked it today and still up.
Yeah. That sounds about right. No blood, no foul. The way it tipped over, left most of the splits on end. 16in of not bending over! Took about 30 mins to restack.
Whenever you fall, I’ll be there for you ~ The Ground Sorry Mike, I know your pain all too well myself.
I have had to restack some because of settling during seasoning, fortunately it hadn’t “Unstacked itself “ yet, wait that migh have been less work. I have found gravity to be “Inconvenient “ in many ways I doubt that anyone ever called a 3120XP a Light Saw, but it balances very nicely with the 36” B&C, the 44” B&C is a tad nose heavy, but I sure didn’t expect as much difference between the 44” and 60” B&C’s as there is, that dayum gravity really Sux then, fortunately the 60” and 72”(I haven’t even had that mounted yet) are just for milling, and once the CSM is on the rails, I’m not supporting the weight. I feel your pain. Had a black bear topple one of my stacks a couple weeks ago. Heard a noise around 0300 and when I shined a light out back, there was a good-sized bear rummaging around in the overturned stack. Not sure what he was looking for, but he didn't even offer to help restack the wood.
Welcome to 'Club Tip Over' you are in good company here! Most of us have had it happen one time or another. It's all part of the game of wood hoarding.
Bears get used to ripping apart rotting logs, looking for grubs and such. Figured your stack to be an easy bust-apart. Then went away shaking its head, realizing he had wandered into the FHC realm.
Saw a few pieces on the ground today turning into the drive. Went out after supper, said a few choice words and started restacking. As if stacking isn't a chore already. Thought about this post too. Bout 30 minutes of banging and stacking to be done. Guess it has shrunk enough to settle. Also wondering if the grade down to the river was just enough to do the deed or my lack of stacking skill.
