So my new MS 311 doesn't like to run in the heat. It's starts great, just a couple of pulls, fires right up. But, after cutting for about 10 to 20 minutes. It's boggs down, if you pull the trigger. I'm thinking it might need a slight carburetor adjustment but I don't know enough to do it myself. I just don't screw it up. What might be going wrong?
My older MS 310 did that, it ended up being the carb, I bought a parts saw for the 310 after buying a MS 311 and put the new carb in the 310, it has been running fine since. On your 311, do you have it set to summer operation, I think that's on page 36 of the manual. How's your air filter after 10 to 20 minutes of cutting, usually they're pretty clean. I haven't had a problem yet with my 311 and use it the most.
I know what you're talking about. There's a baffle under the top cover that you flip over when you want to run it in summer or winter....well cooler temperatures. That's what I'm going to check first. Thank you!!!
Ok, so I went to use my saw again today with the summer /winter baffle removed completely. And my saw did the same thing again. It starts up just fine, but after about 10 to 15 minutes of use. It gets harder to start and wants to bog down when you pull the throttle trigger. I think I might need to take it in somewhere.
Like about 18 months old. And I also pulled the summer/winter baffle out completely. That was on the workbench.
Sounds like a MS270 I worked on. Turned out to be the coil. That model was notorious for coils. Not sure about the 311 having problems. My basic trouble shooting is new plug and new/clean air filter. Not sure your temps but I would put the baffle back in set for summer mode. Coils are easy to install,not sure the price for your saw.
