Any particular reason you didn’t bring the gutters a smidge past the shingles/drip edge?

I’ve been victim of “inching” my tape measurement on a cut to an inch one way or the other- but two inches???
Sounds like you were listening to Tull’s “Crosseyed Mary!”

I would guess measured before the trim boards were up or maybe measured from the shingles , but that's not really literally reading the tape wrong.
Are both ends of the gutter(s) shy ?

Hell yeah though, that looks great. That was a L O T of doing! Woohoo!

I would think the gutters, being pained metal, shouldn't be too close to a warm stack.
or, perhaps electrolysis as they are different metals, over that distance.....sure electrolysis via osmosis.....
Artistic license: you just liked the 'stepped' appearance.....
Funneling wind and or water near the chimney keeps it cool, or promotes draft...

Exactly! I cut them before I had the final measurements and forgot to add in the 2 inch pieces! It was near the end of the day when I did it and I was thirsty! :coldone:

The DuraVent can be 2" from any combustable. That $#!T was some nice stuff and the pipe is supposed to stay cool to the touch. Up that high, it'll be plenty cool exteriorly and still have plenty of draw for the gases. I talked to DuraVent and followed their suggestions to the "T"! The Gutters and aluminum, the roof will have a water diverter ("^") to push the water to the gutters and very little will roll down onto the pipe.

Was just thinking of things to tell people when they ask about the measurement of the gutters. Esp. People who wouldn't know better .

Thanks!!! It went off without a hiccup! Got the pipe temps to about 400º  Burned very clean and normal. Very good draft, not so much as a puff of smoke in the house :banana: The stove pulled well once the doors were shut and temps maintained perfectly, even better then the block chimney! I'm so happy this has came to a close! :D
