They are doing That crap around here also. I dont think they keep low life in jail very long.. They just say the drugs made them do it.
No different than the $$$$$ You have out for your saws! I also believe you have more Invested than I. The biggest thing I own is my 441 mag, didn't need anything bigger. You got some heavy hitters up there on your sig!
I do. I am mind full when they area on the truck. Have combo lock and chain. Saws are stored in the house downstairs. Small saws go in the cab, sometimes the big ones if i have room. This thread has been a good reminder of what cold happen.
That's what I've done with my saws. My last name is very uncommon and I put it where someone would have to search to find it.
Maybe...its a V10 and he already had some work done to it, runs pretty darn good now...got a nasty growl to it when pulling a loaded trailer too! I always thought V10's sounded stupid with aftermarket exhaust...not this one!
farmer steve I'm so happy to hear this news! Hopefully you get the rest back as well. I put tool boxes on my wood haulers & install hasp type locks on them. They'll hold 4-5 saws depending on size. If I'm working residential saw comes out & box gets locked. I'll also leave the camper window open if the dogs are in the truck. You will reevaluate your choice when you see his head & teeth come out the window snarling. He's very possessive of his truck.
Glad they caught the guy. Looks like the same crap is happening all over. Just saw this on my google news feed. Alleged chainsaw thieves arrested
They caught the guy who probably stole my saw and other stuff. I say probably, because he was sitting in my car, which he probably stole as well. But maybe not, who knows. All I know is that I got nothing back, and it cost me a few hundred to dispose of the wrecked stolen car. Glad you have gotten at least some back, hoping you will get the rest.
Great news on getting some of it back. Here’s hoping for the rest. After not seeing my serial number today on my 361 or 250s, and catching up on this thread tonight I looked up some information. I’ll try again in the morning. This all came from the Stihl website. Actually some pretty good info there. https://m.stihlusa.com/faq/products/chainsaws/ Where do I find my serial number? Most serial numbers are stamped in the motor housing or crankcase to the left or right of the muffler looking down from the top on a flat surface. They will in most cases be 9 digits long and begin with the number 1, 2 or 5. My STIHL chainsaw was stolen. Do you track them? STIHL Inc. maintains a Stolen Unit Database. If your STIHL product was stolen, please report it stolen to your local law enforcement agency. Then contact us with your name, address, model number and serial number. If the unit was registered at the time of purchase, we can have it added to the Stolen Unit Database. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
On every professional Stihl (magnesium case) I have rebuilt the serial number is always stamped in two places on the clutch side crankcase half. The visible place (on a MS660): And the completely hidden place which can only be found upon completely stripping the saw down and splitting the cases:
It's easy to sue someone but good luck trying to collect anything from people who have nothing... A lien means nothing to people with bad or no credit, and lawyers fees would probably cost more than replacing the saws.
