Very likely going to be moving within the next several months. I anticipate lugging with me the majority of my wood pile. Probably looking at about 8 cords or so that I would bring to the new house. My first thought was to rent a dump truck for about a week or so to be able to make daily trips with loads of wood. Can you guys think of any other more efficient way for me to transport this amount of wood within a relatively short period of time? Thank you in advance!

Big dump trailer would work also.

First thought would be friends with trucks and trailers.

How far away is the new house?

Here's how we do it. I don't know what equipment you access too, but two 8x16 dumps will hold two cord each thrown in & corners filled. We loaded hauled & delivered 20ish miles in 3 hrs total. 20210831_135651.jpg 20210831_135655.jpg This trailer holds 1.5 when filled good. 20210903_195156.jpg

It will likely be about 30 to 50 miles away.

The Uhaul 6x12 enclosed trailer is only $30/day with a 6000lb capacity.

2 cords per trip. Not bad for the price provided you have a truck.

Wow Brad, that’s beyond gracious of you. I may take you up on that. Much appreciated, believe me. We just may have to give you a proper Polish meal this time.

Actually sorry to hear you are moving. Real nice spot you have there. Hopefully new place has lots of woods. Nice country in Eastern CT and the quiet corner. Wouldnt mind living out there myself.
Hard to believe its been a couple years since we went cutting.

The goal will be less house, more land. With just the the 2 of us, we don’t really use the majority of the house. The dogs just follow us around so it’s as if they take up zero space. Would be great to cut wood off of the property. Guessing we wouldn’t have enough land for all the firewood needs but maybe enough to get a tree down or two with a good storm here and there.

That's what makes this place work so well! Wish I was closer, it'd be a great way to break in the new truck.

    Good luck on the move.

Have you considered moving enough for this year and selling the rest?
