I have 3 of these 90 gallon cans that I’ve collected for free. I got 2 of them brand new and one I had to scrub out. I keep one in my processing area - one behind the house - and one on my lower level deck. The flip lids keep the wood nice and dry. I love the IBC totes, but they are hard to find around here. Anyone else do this?
Nice and great idea. They look like roadside trash/recycling cans around here. I have several beat up old garbage pails of various sizes i use for work. I will use them on occasion for nuggets, bark kindling etc. Couple old galvanized ones too. I make bins out of pallets and fill those up.
Good idea.. I agree with Brad on them looking like trash cans,. Wouldnt mind having one for that also.
Well, this is not as portable as your idea, but a buncha pallets and some other material made an 8x10 shed. Sides open for airflow. Full of shorts and some uglies. When we want some, I'll make a trip or two with the carrier and bring some in and use them up. The other thing we did, was to fill in between spaces on the covered rows....rather than separating them all out to the shed. 'Course we won't be so snowed in that we can't access our piles for too long. We don't get real snow here much anymore.
That's a great idea Cash Larue ! I'd grab several of those if I could find them around here. I used a bunch of chunks/uglies burning out stumps today. I give my nasty pieces away to a friend with a boiler as they're just not worth messing with to me. He buys several cord from me & gets close to one free of crotches knots etc. I'm glad to be rid of them.
Looks like the recycling bins our town uses. Grey lids for cans and bottles, black lids for paper and cardboard. I have 4 extras and keep potting soil and compost in them. They come in handy for all manner of things. I think you can buy similar ones at Home Depot.
I'm lucky enough to live in agriculture country where totes are everywhere. I've thought of using old metal barrels and stacking them on top of each other on their side.
Yep. They are on wheels. So I just wheel the full one to the house. Then I bring the empty one to the processing area. I just rotate them. Pretty convenient!
I take mine to the dump. Originally I stored some in a IBC cage with no tote. But now I always have a few 40 gallon Brute garbage cans in my processing area with cuttoffs and when they are all full then I take them to the dump if I can't find someone to give it to for free.
I use a can like yours to bring splits into the house. Just fits through the door and is pretty easy to move with the aforementioned wheels.
Wow, your kindling storage is nuts!!! Lifting kindling up over your head to store. Yikes! You got more patience than me! Very neat looking shed.
