Winter can be long, it does keep a lot of riff raft out they normally last a second winter. Alaska is a wonderful place to live…not for the faint of heart.
I don’t think I could do it - and I live at 9,000 feet. Whenever I’m feeling sorry for myself because it’s -10 degrees outside, I see your updates on the “colder here” thread and realize I don’t have it that bad. Colorado is bipolar too. One day it will be snowing sideways and -10. The next day it’s sunny and 50 degrees. Alaska just seems dang cold all winter.
That's true. Sometimes I go for a hike in a heavy duty, hooded sweatshirt and come home shirtless and sunburned!
Oh My! You have no idea, it's wonderful there- get a snow storm and a few inches to a few feet of snow, and usually the next day, sometimes a couple days, than screaming sunshine and warmer temps. That, and with the sun reflecting off the snow it always feels much warmer than the thermometer says. I've been on my back deck before at previous home with a couple feet of snow on the ground, ~30's outside but the deck feels like 7o. You guys crack me up with Bipolar. Is that Mother Nature can't make up her mind or different global hemispheres
I know that’s why I was asking. I envy you your life in Alaska although I’m sure it’s not for the faint of heart. I live on the northern edge of the poconos! It probably sounds dumb but I guess I was hoping for a comparison of living in both places. Thanks for sharing your experience & the photo of the snow ⛄️ man!
I’m hearing you sir!!!! Again last night!!!! I keep watching it rain & then I see something on the news about fire or drought west of us. Gotta figure a way to send some of this abundant moisture out that way.
I heard someone saying they are going to rename the rust belt the rain belt. Guess we have to adjust. I have been waiting to plow about an acre it’s just sopping wet.
