Guy who works for us part time asked if I wanted his old pool cover to top cover. Not ideal but it was free and hopefully it will serve a new purpose for a few years Really large tarp and I was able to double it up.
Nice. Cant beat the price. I love free stuff. Few years back i was given some thick black plastic sheeting that was for an inground pool. Cut it into a few pieces and now covering some stacks. Let us know how it holds up.
Heck yeah! I would have done the same thing. I keep buying crappy tarps that only last one winter, because I can't find anything like that around here.
I hear tell that the metal sides from some above ground pools works out pretty well for firewood covers too...makes sense since its probably 4' tall and 50-60' long metal...
I’ve often thought the same. Someone getting rid of an above ground pool would be a goldmine for a wood coverer. The metal sides and the pool liner itself should make great covers. Someone interested could even offer to take down the old pool.
Something that works and is inexpensive is house wrap. Up here, you can get it for 50 bucks for a 10 foot by 100 foot role. I always have left over from jobs, but you can cover a lot of wood with it. I just use a hammer tacker and bang it on. lasts for a couple years that way. Not free, but if you need to get your stacks covered quick, it works.
My BIL has been trying to get rid of a backyard trampoline. It's been posted on FB marketplace. I told him if it doesn’t go, that I might be interested in the rubber. That I'd slice it up to cover stacks. Then, I'd help him get the bulk of what's left to the town's metal dumpster **Edit: never mind. It doesn't hold water. So, not viable as a wood covering.
Not sure what part you use? The trampolines I've been around are mesh! Possibly there are different types?
