My first outing was with a 36" bar. Cant say i noticed an issue. Not that i pay close attention to it. You thinking about getting one?
Common sense tells me, I don't need one. But, it's tempting, anyway. I wonder if one can be ordered with a full wrap handlebar? I really like my full wrap on the 461, for falling, and some other occasional awkward positions, I get into. Maybe next year or next month, whichever comes first. Or maybe not.
No full wrap, but 3/4 wrap comes on the R version. It also comes with larger dawgs and a bigger clutch cover. They probably sell more 3/4 wraps than half wraps around here on bigger saws. You almost never see one with less than a 28” bar on it either. I am really enjoying my 500i.
We sure did. That tree went one full cord. I had the mutt with me for the first load then I grabbed my son after school to help with the second load. We cut up part of another smaller log to fill out the second load.
Just wondering what your impressions of the wrap handle are now that you've had it on for a while. Worth the investment?
It's funny this thread just popped up again! I was just out for the first time this fall running my 500. I'm still as impressed as day one... and quite glad I bought when I did. Man are these shortages crazy. I see 500's selling on eBay for 2k over and over. They are coming from Hungry with no US warranty too.
WOW! that much? Ive seen them on FB for higher prices and knew they were getting a premium on ebay but havent checked lately. I ran mine last weekend and once over the Summer
It's a bad time to be a buyer Brad. The good news is, it's a good time to be a seller! No competition. I just listed my Polaris General and hope she moves quickly.
All mu I'm not buzzy, but mine has the wrap. Most of our saw up here most always have them. I think they are critical if you are falling, and limbing with a larger bar. So if you are actually felling a fair number of trees a day, I'd would suggest it. Years ago, you would be laughed off the cut if you showed up with a saw with no wrap. Hard to get a undercut in depending on which side of the tree you need to stand on, with out one.
Im glad i got mine when i did back in February. The same OPE dealer where buzz-saw got his soon there after. Had i known the after market was this good idve ordered a couple more. The same dealer had very few saws on the shelf the last time i was in there, whereas the one closer to me had almost a full inventory with stocked shelves.
My guy offered to sell me a couple if I wanted to resell one for a profit. Hindsight is 20/20. The tough part is the eBay fees and shipping. It kills a lot of profit. So, you'd almost have to sell on CL or FB to make it worth your while.
I don't fell a lot of trees (most of my scrounging is in the national forest so they're dead and down) however I do a lot of off-camber cutting (mountainous terrain). I've been debating about getting a full wrap for the 500 and would like to get one for the 362 to help with the awkward positions I seem to often end up in when cutting. Thanks for the response.
I'd go for it then. Awkward positions will just wear a fella out. If down the road you wish to sell it, a full wrap always helps on a 72 cc saw and above. Just a tool to let you be more safe and versatile.
