Woke up 2:XX this morning, couldn't get back to sleep after that. I don't think we had the large rainfall. I stepped outside and it was very windy, but stars were shining. Quite beautiful.

A couple hours later, I heard my grandmother emerge from her room with the walker she's using while recovering from her surgery. Then I heard a bang. She fell while trying to get into the bathroom in the pitch black (power was gone, just got it back an hour ago). At the time she was able to walk to the kitchen for some painkillers and back to bed, once me and grandfather helped her up, so i was hoping she'd be ok once she rested for a while..

After it came daylight I inspected their property and went to inspect my own (grandparents have a loose shingle on the shed (which the roof was already proudly showing it's age) and part of a tree down across the yard. I just have a minor issue with my garage door latches, so made out pretty fortunate with the storm) and then for a short drive to assess damage around the area and maybe get an idea on the power outage situation.
Long story short, when I got back I had to contact my uncle and his wife to come, and grandmother was taken to hospital in an ambulance, having much more difficulty moving than when she went back to bed. I hope she'll be ok....

So sorry to hear about Grandmother's fall. I hope it isn't another break. Nice to hear that your area wasn't hit as hard as it could have been. That storm sounded like it could have been lots of trouble.

I wish they would raise the limits on these birds. There are too many now. Maybe if the raise the limits by 25-30% we would get to a better situation.

Problem is only going to get worse. Waterfowl ammo is crazy expensive and/or unavailable anywhere. I'm probably done for the season for that reason.

Problem is not enough hunters, less and less each year.

I know several hunters who use to hunt Geese but don’t bother anymore.

    thanks very much.
Hope I'm not speaking too soon, but her sister called grandfather a short while ago and informed him she's been looked at and may possibly be home before the night is out. Hope so.

Biggest damage I seen here in New Harbour was a big tree fell fell over, taking chunks of their paved driveway with it and, I think, damaging the fence. I don't know the owner of that house but someone has it cleared off the road now, it was halfway across the road. Mainly a few small limbs and a bunch of leafy debris over the roads. Didn't see any houses damaged, so that's a good thing.

Looks like not everywhere faired quite so well, especially in town. Still not near so bad as the storms some places get on a routine basis though.

I have a few cases of 12 gauge 3 and 3 1/2 inch steel. It wasn’t hoarded just bought over time for years. I won’t have any problem hunting.

I took our son to the saw shop and got him PPE today. Picked up a plug and air filter for the MS170 and some felling wedges.

I had him using the 170 on a spruce clearing limbs off so I could buck them up for his wood bundle bin. I was cutting some bug cherry rounds and he asked to use the MS291. The chain was a little dull, but tore through the spruce. I asked him if he wanted to go back to the 170 or the 250. He said no, he was good.

I was impressed, he was very safe and had a good stance. PPE worked fine. He said he understands why I am part of the "chainsaw cult group" now. He also understands why we have different size saws.

Ended up dropping a snapped poplar. Ran out of gas, but I was done at that point. This should be good for chainsaw carved pumpkins.

I spent about 4 hours in the attic today. Sitting outside with a cold adult beverage looking for bats now.

He is 15 now. And a lot more useful for moving drywall and cleaning up my destruction. He wants to get paid though for helping around here.

    :makeitrain"

    No bats, lol.
