There was no obit (per his wishes earlier in life, guess he was ashamed of his duties in ‘Nam…?), but it was the most terrible news I have ever heard over the phone. still screams out in my mind… was told recently I needed “to stop dwelling on it”…. Excuse me, WTF did you say?!!! wife!!!?

Sorry for the rant y’all.

Breakfast this morning. First time camping all year. Have cooked over the fire the entire trip.

Where are you camping? Her and i have been wanting to go but its not as much fun in really hot humid weather. She was a long time girl scout and we cook mostly over the fire as well.

Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Fingers crossed I'll spend another 10+ nights this year in the van.

Wood is a little tricky up here due to the firewood transport limitations. Managed to find a bone dry barkless red oak with some pine for the first few days. Just went and busted up some more pine and birch to get us through today.

So.........you're both religious cooks then? If it's not a burnt offering, it's a sacrifice? :smoke:

Ah! One of my favorite camping activities...scrounging for firewood. One of my favorite home actvities as well. I take wood with us...mostly hardwood pallets cut up. Empty cat litter boxes full. Ill scrounge the rest of the wood in the campground or immediate area. Have a s'more for me IonicTick Enjoy!

I hear you bud. I just got past 3 years without my dad after losing his fight with ALS right after father's day.

I scrounged pretty heavy this trip. Decided to go axe and leave the chainsaw at home. Was a major workout but oddly satisfying. Next time though I'll pack a saw lol.

S'mores were delicious. Did them this trip with the usual as well as Reese Peanut Butter Cups.

    A+ would recommend.
