39.5" DBH red oak

I'm starting my Fall timber cruise and I found this dominant red oak is in the process of dying. Probably just old age. Looks like a good 25+' to the first branch point. Should make excellent lumber from the main stem and a couple cord(?) of fire wood from the top this winter. Of course, I still have a couple dozen dead/dying chestnut oaks to deal with, too. That's a never ending story.

Kubota L3710. I've skidded 36+" x 10' logs pretty easily before. Should be able to handle 8-12' logs from that trunk

Will do, but probably won't get it down until after the new year, not to mention C/S/S. I'd be happy to get the firewood stacked before summer 2022.

 

Lots of lumber and firewood there. Hopefully trunkwood is solid. Biggest ive ever bucked was 38" RO back in May. Wish id had equipment!
