Hello, Any opinions or suggestions would be appreciated. Was wondering about how many chains one carbide bit will sharpen? I only cut about 3 or 4 cords per year. This tool sounds like it will be handy to keep my chains sharpened up, either at home or in the field.
Thanks for the info. Getting ready for cold weather wood hording! Burr oak, Post oak and Hedge mostly this time. Storing up for 2016..
They can do a very fine job.. No idea on how long the carbide cutters last though.. Caney, KS ain't far from me! I'll bet you guys got some Pecan over that way too...
Good for now, but I may when the stash runs out... We got very few here... Hedge and Hackberry everywhere...
I had a Timberline for awhile. It's good if you only have a couple chains and only sharpen on the saw. Also, it needs to be set up precisely. Otherwise, it will not work as well as you want it to. Level, and do not take off to much. Other than that? It works great. Just take the time to get it right, otherwise you won't get one of two spots very well. Either the top plate or gullet will suffer.
I bought one last year, it seems to work very well. I have been able to get my chains very sharp and more precise than I could with a file. Some people are very good with a file I'm not, it has been a good tool for me.
Cut my fingers just advancing the chain the chain was so sharp. Gloves are the order of the day from now on. Timberline works great!
