Neighbor sent me a text and said one of his norway maples had a huge limb split off during Ida and demolished his neighbor's shed. His neighbor had gone up on his garage roof to get the branches off so all that was left was about 20' and 10" DBH. Got all geared up and he ended up helping me clear branches, move the wood to my truck, and rake and use the leaf blower. It was about 1.5 garden carts so maybe only 11 cubic feet but I love norway maple for firewood. Splits so easy and the meat is so smooth and delicious looking. Was super glad I had cleaned the 028, sharpened the chain, gassed and oiled it up after using it last time. Great to be able to just grab and go. Sharpened it up and cleaned the bar after today as well. When I saw the pics I thought the it was a trunk and ginormous but the angle of the shot just made it look big. It was pretty tiny. This is a shot before he cut the branches off the garage. Poor shed. Here's my neighbor posing for the photo op. Bucked up some thin branches for my neighbor to use as kindling. All the wood I took home. Aw yeah. The neighbor of my neighbor gave me a bottle of Breckenridge bourbon. 90% of the tree was on my friend's side so I don't know why he gave it to me....but I was very grateful for it. Excited to have a sippy-sip. I don't drink very often at all. I drove home (2 minute drive) with the whiskey on the round! Can you believe it??
Word gets around and nice connection. I love NM myself, but rare scrounge for me. Id rather have it than red maple any day of the week. The pics are deceiving!
Yeah it was like expecting a telephone pole and finding a toothpick!!! Hahahahaha. Beautiful day to be out sawing wood. Man I really love the 028. I can't wait to try the 034 S.
Pretty excited to compare it to the Woodford Reserve I have on hand! Yeah it was a great day on many fronts!
