That will be nice. We had some last year with curly/wavy grain...it would have messed with their eyes too.
It's hard to keep up with sometimes. I know when we cleaned up that hickory above, we worked about 3 1/2-4 hrs, drank close to 15 bottles between my wife and I, my neighbor brought his own, but got a bottle or 2 later... In a good morning, I probably drink 4-5 bottles, still probably not enough...
Yes sir, brother. It was kinda rough, but I made it...lol... Really gets bad before a storm as it is building up, no wind, just wearing the air, have to cut it with the saw...
With me working 7AM-7PM this week, ate a bite of supper and Fred beginning to drop some rain, didn't get much done on Monday. Did get those 2 big rounds noodled to handling size An a little saw maintenance and 1 chain run through the grinder. Got another chain soaking in the cleaner.
With my schedule back to normal rotation, I started my long days off stretch on 8-20. We got a call about a big oak limb down. We went early that morning, took the MS180 and Husky 55. Didn't have truck access to the backyard, glad he had a wheelbarrow and helped haul it. Took 1 HR, the MS180/14" bar handled it. Got nearly a load from it. Sorted it when we got home, got the bigger pieces on the ramp. We had an order for 1 cord load, so moved a load of logs to the processing area... Got the dump trailer moved next to the splitter, that big limb made 1 row of splits on the trailer. Thankful for the hydro power, a lot of the other logs were big limbs too, twisted grain...and I'm not a machine like buZZsaw BRAD LordOfTheFlies or Sirchopsalot Got 4 rows done on Friday
On Saturday, 21st, we did our other side job, cut grass. We have a few people we cut for. This older man calls when his SS check comes, it was BAD this time... we have had rain this summer, good bit of Bahia grass too... Front yard.. Back yard.. Trimming around his old garden fence First pass, front yard 1st pass, back yard, needed a baler... 2nd pass back yard 2nd pass front. Normally takes 1 1/2 hrs to do, took 3 hrs this time...
Next 3 days weren't too fun nor productive. Sunday morning till early Wednesday morning was hard labor ...only got this alien baby... Biggest kidney stone I've ever passed Felt like a softball coming down... By late Wednesday afternoon, I felt good enough to finish bucking the logs for the trailer load. My neighbor, Mike, came up Thursday morning, we got the trailer load finished and delivered. The yellow line marks 9'...makes 1 cord stacked to there....2x7x9...
Had to start my 7PM-7AM shift Thursday night, so Friday morning moved more logs to processing area, started on 1/3 cord pickup loads... Saturday's load... Monday's load Need to get 1 more load of 18" done, then we have 3 - 1 cord loads of 16" to process...maybe the weather will let us work on my 3 days off...

Thanks for the shout-out T.Jeff Veal but you are doing some work right there!! Those logs look scrumptious - too bad they went to a customer. So sorry to hear about the kidney stone. I've had FOUR in the past year and a half, starting last March. As a PSA and not to hijack too much, I had a CT scan the first time withOUT contrast to find the stone. But they missed......the CANCER. That they found when I had the second stone and this time they did it with and without contrast. 3.5cm mass detected in Jan-2020. Had a laparoscopic robot assisted partial nephrectomy where they successfully cut out the mass. Only *after* it was out did they send to pathology and find out it was clear cell renal carcinoma. Stage 1a. Super early detection. Negative margins (they cut out the entire mass and a little cushion to be safe) and no further treatment required - no chemo or radiation. Just need a CT scan every year for the foreseeable future. In June had another stone which the lab lost. In August had another one that I did not catch. Anyways just thought I'd share. Did you send that stone to get analyzed? There are 4 types of stone with calcium oxalate (most popular at 80% of stones) and uric acid being the most popular. I am taking calcium supplements (increases calcium because of my calcium deficiency) and potassium citrate (increases urine pH for uric acid). You should follow up with a urologist. I am going to see a nephrologist (kidney expert) shortly. Also the stone getting stuck in the ureter was so painful I had to go to the ER the first 3 times. The last time I was prepared and was given a script for Oxymorphone. I had to take one and it took an hour to kick in. At the ER when delivered IV the same medication took about 10 seconds to kick in.
Y Yikes, that kidney stone is scary. Glad it passed. You gonna have it bronzed? Make a necklace out of it? Always nice to get some wood out of a paying job.
LordOfTheFlies yes sir, I have an appointment later in Sept with the same urologist I saw a few years ago when I had my first one. He also found a big one in my kidney that he later crushed...
You should double your water intake. I drink water exclusively now during the day. Morning coffee with some milk. That was a ginormous stone holy cow. I can't believe you passed it. Mine was only 2.5mm and it killed me when it got stuck (no sensation or pain when I actually peed it out though strangely enough).
I have started drinking more water and less tea, especially when working outside. It was over 4MM x 2mm.
The weather held off this morning and we were able to get the load of 18" splits cut and delivered After lunch, one of Ida' s trailing rain bands came through. It cleared out and I was able to get more logs staged and the dump trailer placed next to the splitter. This will be 16" splits.
