With the prediction of hurricane hitting CT today, I removed all the tin roofing on that top covers the wood. Storm has since been downgraded to a tropical storm. I feel bad for the wood at the moment. So vulnerable……so exposed, lol!
Yes, that was my concern. I have a couple dozen 8 foot length of them. Felt it was better to take them down when weather was calm rather than “wait and see”, and messing with them at height of storm. Luckily, the storm is looking to be mostly heavy rain and windy, but not serious wind.
PITA but probably worth it. Look like your getting the worst of it Steve. Barely a breeze here but rain has picked up.
Good luck down your way with the storm. Not much going on here. If I didn’t watch the news at all I’d just look out my window and think “Oh, it’s raining today”. I know others won’t be so lucky.
Southwest CT right here- Took the precautions you did if things got bad. Last August was much worse weather wise. Steady rain at the moment and not much wind to speak of. Still a band that can roll through and cause some trouble but the winds are projected to be in the 20s mph. Better than the 50-70 they were warning of. Not everyone is as lucky so I'd better not gloat, but relief is a nice feeling all the same.
Not bad at all here and it’s slowing down. Going to bring the dogs out for a hike in a bit. I’ll take it!
I just went out for a bit in the rain. I was hoping for some good wind, but just a rain event now. The Weather Channel was live in New London.
Part of me was wanting some wind to take down trees again and have another glut of free wood people were trying to get rid of- but that's me being selfish. The rest of me is more than ok with the power staying on because they were warning of up to 21 days without power.. which seriously is kind of nuts.
We cut a tree out of the road in order to visit my folks. Might sneek back and cut it up and make it dissappear. Sorta fortunately not a lot of damage here. We were disappointed that the power didn't go out....even for a few days. Glad we all came through! Was a non event here, but I finished and covered one stack that was mostly done. Sca
Unfortunately, long waits for power to return after a storm have become standard in CT. Given the way the storm fizzled out, I’m guessing the power company wishes they said something like “ we have crews ready and will face this thing head on”. IMO, to put that statement out was absolutely foolish.
