Last beetle kill at the lake.... for now

    Another eight ponderosa pines went this summer at Goldwater Lake. We shut the main gate at daybreak as this was one that had to be felled across the entrance road. A perfect lean and space meant I didn't have to climb this one. Felled, bucked up and road cleared in about 40 minutes. The tree stood at 80 feet tall but the beetles were still in it so I didn't want the firewood for obvious reasons. Everything hauled out of the area.

    It was taken to a dump site far away from any ponderosa pines
