This is just the cutest nicest group of people ever! And CONGRATS Mr and Mrs Beetle-Kill !! What is a wood rat?
Buy, buy, buy!!! You probably seen some of my threads about New Hampshire. I purchased in an old logging area that has since grown back. Even if you decide not to build down the road, you will not lose! At the time of my find and purchase, I wasn't aware of the attraction and the desirability of my land, it is secluded very well and you would have to go looking for it to find it. It's location is a well kept secret by the folks who live up there. Long story short, I've already had 2 offers since 2019 to sell it and was offered double my purchase price already. There is no way I would ever sell and I've put lots of sweat equity in it along with $$$$. But once out of here, my dream's of quiet are going to come true!
Thanks again. "Bushy tailed wood rat"- I'd never seen one before, had to google to see what it was. Basically, a 7" long mouse with a 4" tail. How it was able to get where it was I'll never know. They can get to 15" long, including tail.
Another yes vote to purchase. I bought a 1 acre chunk off the adjacent farm here where farm ground is crazy expensive. For one reason.... Firewood processing/seasoning/long term storage. It's perfectWe won't even talk about or consider the R.O.I. !
I understand the "crazy expensive" for farmland, this area isn't any different, but- for different reasons. This is big ranchland, small sub-divisions have a fight to be developed. This one prevailed, but I doubt they'll accept more of the same. The County has spoken, nothing less than 35 acres from now on, with minor exceptions. Keep your fingers crossed for me, I'll need it until November. Edit- this is not Colorado property.
Sure seems that CO has seen it's fair share of development in areas I'd have never guessed would have. What state is the piece you are interested in lay? Curious. Good luck.
I have few regrets in life, but one is NOT buying land when I was younger. Now anything around is so expensive or there is no privacy. Been looking at western and northern part of state (PA), but not sure I want to stay in PA when (and if) I retire.
I really regret not trying harder to keep the 1.5 acres to my west, and the 5.5 acres to the east that was part of my properly when I bought it...I have first rights to buy it back if it ever comes back up for sale, but prices have went nuts now, and the neighbor already has the place all junked up now, so already living with the consequences!
