I am curious if others would have done the same thing.

I came across this deal where the city was selling ash logs 100” long 97 cord worth. Now this is 87 more cord then I have ever dealt with at one time. I offered them $25 per cord and part of the deal was I had to find a logging company to haul them to my house. I found the logging company that would deliver 12 cord at a time for $450 per truck load.

I was a little nauseous when I found out I was the high bidder at $25 per cord but then I got talking to the owner of the logging truck and he said he just turned 70 and was done with firewood and had sold his wood lot and needed to get his logs hauled out of there. He said he had 60 cord and would sell them to me at the same price I paid for the cities wood and same price for hauling them to my house.

Being a true wood hoarder I just couldent turn that deal down I told him if he would deliver all 60 cords to my house for $3500 I would take it. So now I’m at about 160 cord and when it’s all said and done I have just under 10 grand into it.

have I gone to far this time I’m thinking I’ll sell a little of it.

Here is a picture of about 50 cord stacked next to my driveway

I wanted to give a few more details it’s 99% ash and it’s all dry 6% on the outside and about 18% moisture content on the inside. It’s also very solid only a handful of pieces look to have any rot.

It’s going to be kind of tight finding room to process it but I cleared enough space to have room to get it all on the ground here

Cut and split Ash cords here go for about 400 bucks per cord. 60 cord = 24,000 dollars. I’d do that deal all day long, and twice on Sunday.

Your only going to sell a little of it! Whatch going to do with the rest of it? With a lot of cutting and splitting you should be able to triple your money. Good luck!

Well this is the firewood hoarders club where we all come to support each other addiction hahahaha I’m sure most of it will get sold, I don’t think it will be hard to sell it in Northern Minnesota.

I'd say you did very well! I'd take that deal any day. I can sell good solid dry Ash at $225.00 per cord here no problem. Sell half & have your heat paid for for a few years. No downside I can see.

The wife said I had to have at least 30 cord stacked for at home use before she would let me start selling any.

You certainly shouldn't have heat problems for a little while.

Some might say going too far is the name of the game here.

Sounds to me like you need to have a GTG & get the cutting/splitting moving along in the right direction.

Any chance that you can sell any of it roadside, in bundles?

Good $'s to be had selling some of it that way.

Nice to have the room to put it!

Wow. That is quite a mountain of logs. I didn’t realize how huge it was til I enlarged it and could see little tiny you standing in front of it.

Looks like a lot of good saw logs in that pile. With the price of lumber you might want to consider putting those aside for milling.
    Hoard on!:salute:

It all depends on the market there and if you have both the equipment, the time and the ability to do the labor. I also hope there are no township restrictions on having a commercial business there or any other dumb ordinances they may have. Will you also need some state licenses including state tax license?

I don't see a problem, although it would take me several lifetimes to get it all processed.
