I found the guardians of the big (calico) shed this morning...they vacated the premises when I gave them a drink of brake parts cleaner...
I haven't hollered uncle yet... I just wish he didn't bring all the brush too. Most of our local tree service don't have a chipper...
Thanks for asking, but that injury was several years ago. My thumb has some nerve damage, but works normally.
On my way home from work, got a call about a big pecan limb had fallen in a community driveway in the little town next to us. We went after breakfast with the tractor and MS180 and Echo 2511T. We got it out of the driveway. Trimmed the brush and pushed it into the woods, got a little pile of wood for the effort We then started back on the load of oak. We had moved the splitter and trailer Thursday, had 1 nice post oak log to cut and some smaller red oak limbs to do. The small rounds... We got this done Friday after the pecan... Got to finish that row and half again to equal 2 truck loads...then deliver... It was a bit sticky yesterday...thank you JESUS for ...
We finished the 2/3 cord load on the trailer and got it delivered Saturday about lunchtime... Then our newest customer came Tuesday morning and loaded his big truck with the other 1/2 cord. He couldn't get it all, but said he was happy with what he could haul and called it done. He said they would probably get 4 loads (2 cords) next year. Super nice guy... Haven't been able to cut any this week, every evening when I get off, we are getting this... We probably need it though, good for our grass cutting business...
Good afternoon all. About mid 70s with partly cloudy skies. Chaz is hard at work digging the ditch for the gray water line. Have a great day all. Stay safe and stay healthy.
We have been able to Git'ter done for a week or so. My schedule is back to normal now...we have been cutting grass, cleaning up a couple downed willow oaks and a big hickory blow down. The hickory Picture of the hickory load when we got in that night Daylight pic, still have to get the main trunk... Right hand side of the twin oaks. Left side of the twin oaks. First day, we cut 2 loads from the right side. 1st load 2nd load We had a little shade to work with, but is still was hot that day. The evening thunderboomer was pouring down when we got home, but it did cool it off. Water coming under our driveway...
Another day, we had an order for 1/3 cord for a firepit. Some oak and tulip poplar. Then a coworker cooks a hog Labor Day weekend wanted more big chunks of red oak, he tried some last year. Used the MS461/28"b&c to handle this huge knotty oak round. That saw was hungry, and I let her eat. All the fresh cut wood came from that round Glad when we got done before lunch, those chaps make it even hotter. That shirt was light brown when I put it on...lol... Another repeat customer put in an order for 2/3 cord. We had about 2 trailer loads of big post oak limbs that were cut last fall. Bucked and ready for the splitter Some of it wasn't straight, some uglies, we put a little extra on there. Delivered to his auto shop.
I had a day off Thursday, so we went back to the twin oak tree site. Worked on the right side again. Got the main trunk bucked and loaded. Grapple opens 40", had about all it could hold... Filled in the spaces with smaller limbs. 1st load of the day. Right side is done. Came back and got a 2nd load from the left side. We had to let FHC show up and out...lol... Our 2 loads for the day... We got the left side all bucked up, just have to haul it home. Main trunk sections, each 1 is 36" long 1 more section And some other pieces. He also has a big pecan limb for us to get.
...Im not quite that old, though some days I feel it...... Long ago, we had to cut and split on site, didnt have a splitter. Just kept wood for my mom and dad. Got the first splitter in '99 or 2000, I think. Got the tractor and 16' equipment trailer. Had to drag logs off, 1 at a time, roll with cant hook Loaded the trailer with chain and tongs So we have come a long way.
