Severe Weather ?

The rain associated with the stationary front has been just squeeking by to the north of me. Not by very much. I've been able to work on my garden/ rabbit fence all day. We won't be so lucky with the tropical storm remnants making its way up the coast.

 

How high are the winds suppose to be and how much rain are they calling for?

 

Winds up to 50mph+ along the coast

2+ inches of rain, with a band of 5-6in from Hartford up to Bangor Me.

 

Stay safe! We just had some heavy rain which should move through in about 15 minutes.

The tropical storm system is now over Virginia, moving right along.

 

The northern part of this storm is hitting ten miles south of us. I best stay off the trails tomorrow, they'll be a mess if I use any.

At 735 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm was located over Wanakena,
moving northeast at 35 mph.

HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Expect damage to trees and powerlines.

Falls, Childwold, Shurtleff, Axton Landing and Coreys.

 

Looks like fairly heavy rain just a little west of Lake Placid/Tupper Lake area.

 

The ground here is saturated.

Elsa has her sights on us. 2-5inches by later this afternoon

 

Got another 1.5" of rain since 3AM yesterday and it is still raining. Even after the 3" of rain last weekend, the ground is not yest saturated, which shows the level of dryness that we have experienced since last summer. Can tell because I don't have any streams running thru the back yard, nor is there a pond at the drainage area on the north side of the property. Been fortunate that most of the rainfall lately has been at a slow, steady rate. The drought monitor map still shows my area in an abnormally dry state.





However, the rain coming from the hurricane may dump pretty quickly

Except, I prefer to drink mimosas.

 

We ended up with 2"+ of rain. Light winds through the day. We were on the rain side and not the wind side of it. Just dealt with clearing storm drains and building leaks at work.

 

We are getting hammered with rain right now. Say 2-3 inches expected possibly up to 4 in areas. Wind isn’t bad which is good we don’t need trees blowing over.

 

I’m getting more rain from this than I did Elsa yesterday.

 

In the past 2 hours we have gotten over 2 inches and it’s absolutely pouring still.

 

Current totals a few minutes ago. Still pouring. Water stopped soaking in and started running off. We are definitely dry and need the rain but this is too much too fast. Roads flooding and getting closed all around right now.

 

I see the Syracuse area might get over 1.5 inches of rain, I'm sure the city could see some flash flooding if they get it.
