Picked up a load of silver maple from one of my wife's coworkers houses today. They lost a limb off one of their trees.(20" limbs equals big tree!) They have a bunch of maples in the 70 yo range, most of them are near the end of their life.(big, brittle and rotting) I've picked up wood from them before and probably will with regularity until they're all dead and gone. Here are some pictures of the load, I would've used the trailer but it didn't look like this much in the pictures she sent me wife.

Lotsa water in that silver testing the truck springs. Good looking haul! Brought home some silver 4 weeks ago and split it right away, it's noticeably lighter already when I stacked it yesterday. Love how fast that stuff dries out.
I was surprised how heavy it was, the chips coming out of the saw when I was cutting it looked like they were soaked in water.
Great lookin' stuff there. I have not quite 4 p/u loads of Silver that should be ready around early December or so...Will start the season by burning the remainder of the White Pine,Green Ash from Jan - Feb 2013 & some other odds/ends like some lower quality lightweight dead Red/Black Oak that's been cut/split since June 2011.
Nice haul rdust. Have you checked out any deer hunting yet this year? Our hunting appears as if it will be a bit on the light side. Hardly any antlers showing up but that is expected after a winter like we had.
I haven't even put my cameras out this year! I did see a nice buck out in a field near the house yesterday with a smaller buck so that is encouraging. I haven't seen much around the house though. The heard has been down around here the last couple years and it looks like that trend is going to continue this year.
Yessir, when it's fresh that stuff has a lotta water! Yeah, I was picking through a small pile of Black that I had thrown to the side when bucking last year, as it seemed pretty dry. I went ahead and made a small stack of it, even though some was little branches...just can't bring myself to throw it away.
