We just got hit. Pouring rains. Bolts splitting the sky. Lots of thunder. No gusty winds, fortunately.

    Cable out
    Internet sketchy
    Power on

I could see it, and hear it for quite some time but it was going a little north (bottom pic) and a lot east (top pic). I got enough rain to lightly water the lawn but not enough to move the rain gauge.

It looks like the cold front is just north of Ottawa heading this way, that will feel nice tonight after the humidity we had today.

Loon , are you done with the celebration yet after the big win last night?

Waiting for Elsa. Tropical systems have become our best shot at rain during the dog days.

I'm not sure what it was this morning but we have a high of 58 at the moment.

I took two loads of pine down to a neighbor for outside burning and had a fire in our outside fireplace today. It looks like we'll be in for a wet day tomorrow, over 1.50 inches of rain possible.

I just brought this up from NOAA.

DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Thursday through Tuesday.

Widespread rain and embedded thunderstorms are expected across the
area Thursday into Friday with 1 to 3 inches of rain possible.
Mainstem rivers will likely be able to handle this amount of rain,
but any possible flooding would be confined to smaller rivers and
streams and low lying areas, especially Thursday afternoon and night.

There has been quite a bit of severe weather in MI lately and more forecast with a special warning issued at 4:00 am. I also got a notice on my phone yesterday about a warning. Fortunately it was south of me and it petered out fairly quick.

We are catching the western edge of Elsa, so it looks like just rain for a few hours.

...Heavy Rain to Affect Portions of Northern New York...

At 6 PM, National Weather Service doppler radar indicated an area of
heavy rain moving into the Saint Lawrence Valley. This rain will
continue to spread north and east through this evening, moving into
western portions of the Adirondacks. Rainfall rates in excess of 1
inch per hour have been reported with this activity, with 1 to 2
inches of rainfall possible through 9 pm. Localized flooding of poor
drainage areas and ponding of water on roadways will be possible as
this heavy rain moves through the area. Motorists are urged to use
caution this evening. Slow down and remain alert for rapidly
changing road conditions. Never drive through a flooded road.

The rains should start coming down pretty good once the yellows and the orange/red colors hit.
