    Red handled steel rail with the little spring clips that slide along track to accommodate different size and number of sockets.

    Did that with a Ruger SR 22. The "lost" showed up 2 weeks ago.

    I can lose a tool 30 seconds after I just used it. Probably at least 25% of the time (if not more) I spend on any project is looking for a tool that I just laid down. Heck, I can be looking straight at the thing and can't find it - even when I am looking for a bright yellow or orange object. I get so frustrated at myself.

    Then when I put tools away, I put them in a place that is "logical" at the time. At a later time, apparently I've forgotten my logic. This is especially true when I get new tools. I have one battery operated drill that spent several years on top of my long-gun safe. I used it extensively when I was putting up walls in the basement and the safe was convenient to leave the tools on. Once the project was done, I didn't dare move its storage place or I'd never find it again :emb:. I recently reorganized my rolling tool box and managed to make room for it right next to my other battery operated drill. I "should" be able to find it when I next need it.

    Well this is pretty much it in a nutshell.
    I have bought doubles of some tools for a reason but have also acquired plenty more due to this.

    My wife had that very same habit and when no other flat surfaces were available, well, there is always the floor...

    I’ve found by sitting down, thinking about just where I used thing’s that I’ve “misplaced “ I can remember where I misplaced them, with in a reasonable amount of time. Now, if I can just remember where I left my fat, stubby screwdriver! lol I’ll find it!

    BINGO!! Found it about 3 min ago, ''right where i left it'' in my rollaway, in a big drawer with ONE BIG long flat blade screwdriver. and some other random tools

    A little change of subject but I always get a kick out of people when they say, "I always find it in the last spot I look for it."

    Well no duh, who looks for it anymore after you find it??:loco: :crazy:

    I rarely actually lose something. I have carried a nice pen for 20 years and rarely lose one. My current pen is going on 8 years.
    I have only lost one knife in 20 years of carrying one.

    Now you're just showing off.
    :rofl: :lol::rofl: :lol:

    Ironically, at work I am extremely OCD about tool storage. I can tell you where it is/should be without thinking about it.

    At home.. All bets are off.
    :doh:

    It's narrowed down to..
    Truck
    Car
    Reloading room
    Pump room
    Trailer
    :hair::hair:

    It feels like I spend most of my time wandering and looking for tools.
    :binoculars:

    I'm seriously hoping the pole barn will help to alleviate the problem.
    :thumbs:

    And yes.. the best way to find something is to purchase a replacement.
    Never fails.

    For edc items, I am pretty good. For tools, I misplace them every time they come out. This is why I have 8 screw drivers and about the same number of hammers. I lost a socket driver bit in my toolbelt. :picard:

    Just razzin ya.
    :handshake:

    I've not lost many EDC items like knives or Zippo lighters since I started carrying lesser value knives and Bic's.

    Seems that I "likely" misplaced some of my finer ware in coworkers pockets.
    :doh:

    Guess they'd call that an "occupational hazard".

    There's a generous sill on the front of my Blaze when you open the hood. After an unusual faint rattle a couple months I finally opened the hood and found the nice plier/wire cutters we'd been missing. One of WWW's wedding ring rode around in the same spot for a few months as well. His first wedding ring did not fare as well.
